"KAM HURRY UP!"
It was Monday evening and Kam and I were going out for a girls' night. We hadn't had one in weeks and I hadn't seen her the entire weekend so the time seemed just about right. I was at her house, but lucky for me, Carter was at his brothers' for two days.

Kamryn as always, was taking absolutely forever to get ready and get that "perfect look" as she calls it, so I went upstairs to rush her since shouting from the couch was helping nothing.
I thought it would be easy not to think about the whole Carter thing, but stepping into that room and seeing the bed, and the sheets, and the tissue box I had thrown... thoughts started flooding my mind. I mean, had I really been lying there with Carter, the exact same place Kam slept last night right next to him? It all seemed so unreal but I knew I couldn't escape the truth, even if Carter thought I bought his stupid lies.

"So, what do you think?" Kam did a turn, and vogued a few steps, flashing me a smile. Her long, beach-wave blonde hair set as usual and her lips were pursed with cherry red lipstick. Almost all the makeup she uses is imported from Dubai. She says it has the best coverage, and as tempting as that sounds, I can never wear too much of it.

Kam and I are almost complete opposites, but I guess that's why we're so close. I mean, she likes pink and I like blue, she likes to put her ketchup over her chips and I like to have it on the side. We don't normally like the same things. (Except we both love her husband...) SAIGE. SNAP OUT OF IT. I don't love Carter, not exactly. He's just extremely attractive, I guess.

"You look great, Kam, you know you do," I rolled my eyes.  "Can we please leave now? I'm starved."
Kam had on a bright red dress that reached her knees, along with a vintage, gold scarf and cute, teal toes.

In our 20 years of friendship, she could never match her colours. She was always bright and the colours she wore were never even close to similar. I guess that's what makes her stand out, she's quite eccentric.
Me, on the other hand... if my colours didn't match I always felt like a rainbow threw up on me- and I'd look like it too. I had on a pretty, black dress with a bit of glitter and black flats.

People always judge me because I wear black so often, but really it's just because I love the colour - or should
I say shade- not because I'm a bad person. My personality definitely isn't dull. I throw confetti everywhere I go. Not many people understand that except for Kam, she knows me better than I know myself and vice-versa. She was there through seventh and sixth grade, high school, tertiary and until now. I remember us planning our weddings together but Kam was the only one who actually found love and got married. She wasn't picky with her guys yet she still ended up with one who looks like he should model for Calvin Klein, I mean that's a bit unfair. I'm not in any rush though, I believe everything good does come in time. I think this always when I wait for pizza to arrive and they take longer than 45 minutes.

Was I blabbing again?
My apologies. I don't want to bore you with my entire life story.

"Let's go." Kam ushered me out of the room and into the car. I used to love spending time at her house, but my goodness, I couldn't have been happier to leave.
Even though we dressed up a bit, we're not all about that fancy life. We ended up going to Taco Bell and Starbucks after. We spent hours sitting on a bench at a park just talking and laughing about every little thing. You see, Kam and I could be anywhere doing absolutely nothing but we'd still find fun in the situation. We could be on the verge of dying and the world could be coming to an end but we'd still probably crack jokes.

"OH MY GOD!" Kam points. "It's a full moon, Carter loves full moons."
Dammit. The night was going so well until she brought up her dumb, gorgeous husband. Right now you must think I'm a really bad friend for not telling her what happened but honestly, I'm not sure how to tell her.
I don't want to hurt her. There's no nice way to say I woke up half naked with her husband in her bed.
It's not like she'll believe my explanation anyway, she'd think I was lying about the whole thing and just making up excuses for the fact that we slept together. It would ruin her marriage and our friendship! I cannot risk that.

"Yeahhh," I answer awkwardly, "that's cute."
Kamryn, who knows me all too well, noticed the change of tone in my voice and gave me a look.
"Spill it," she said. "why'd you get so weird so suddenly?"
I just shrugged and tried changing the subject but obviously, that didn't work.
"Was it because I said something about the moon?" She asked. Sometimes Kam really does fit the part of a dumb blonde. Why would I have a problem with the moon? I'm not an idiot.
Her tone changed and her voice dropped, it was almost scared.
"Is this about Carter?"

When she said that, I felt the atmosphere change. There was tension in the air and I know she felt it too. My heart started pounding because I knew I wasn't good at keeping secrets and my best friend knew exactly when I was hiding something. I tried to make my face as normal as possible and I replied with, "No, Kam, nothing like that."
"Then why did you go all quiet?"
"My tummy's started churning a while ago, I'm sorry if I seem miserable. I'm always ruining our girls' nights."

She takes pity on me when I say this because she knows how terrible I felt after causing us to miss our cab last time we went out. It was an honest mistake, my bladder isn't as big as hers.
After I complained about my tummy, she forgot all about the way I changed my tone and we headed home.

I was planning on staying over at Kam's since Carter was away so we both went straight there. Although when we got in, I knew my plans needed to be changed...
