That's.. not what I expected

You're totally right! I should ask him what's on his mind. Talking to someone about it always helps.
"Hajime? What's on your mind?" I ask while I put my hand on his shoulder.
"Huh?" Hajime looks up to meet my eyes. "N-Nothing.." It's silent for a couple of seconds.
"Well.. actually there is. I've been meaning to say something to you for a long time."
"Oh?" I tilted my head. "What is it?"
"I, uh, well, I... What I want to say is that.. err.. ........ I love spending time with you! Yes, that! Haha.." he laughed awkwardly. "You're the one I spend with time- I-I-I mean spend time with the most! And I think you're a really good friend- (ouch, friendzoned) -and I'm happy that I can call you that. I'm happy to have you as my best friend and today's been really fu- uh, fantastic! Yeah! Just here sitting together and talking.
..I just wanted to let you know that."
It's silent again. Friend? He called me my best friend. Is that the feeling I've been feeling the whole time I'm with him? Friendship? ...I guess so, if Hajime says that it's probably right. Though, it doesn't feel completely right..like it's not the right word..
Hm. Oh well, I guess it probably just is friendship.
..Why do I feel a bit of disappointment? I should be happy right? Right. You are happy. You're very happy Chiaki.
So I smile brightly at Hajime and give him a hug! "Thank you Hajime! Thank you thank you thank you!! I'm really happy to be your friend." I giggled and Hajime hesitantly hugged me at first, but then hugged me tightly.
"You're welcome..."
Hajime's warm.. I wish I could stay like this forever. Now we're talking about him anyway, it seems like he has something else to say. He stuttered  a lot and made mistakes in his sentences. It's like he wasn't really ready to tell me that, or something else. Maybe I should have waited and let him speak.. Oh well. I could still ask him about it, or should I just let it go? I think I'll-

We both look at the screen where Monokuma has appeared. A body has been discovered!
