It's the same day but about an hour later, Kristen's in the middle of her session with Dr. Quinn. I sit on the couch with Coco and do my homework. At the same time my mom and I are brainstorming ideas as to what to do for Kristen when she gets back from Arkham later today. After a few minutes Coco got down off the couch and started to bark at me, I look at her " gimme a min okay? I'm almost done here." I say, she keeps barking. "Alright Coco, wanna go outside?" I say playfully. She runs in circles and I go in the front yard with her and play fetch with her favorite toy." Edward!" My mom calls from the porch " Your dad is coming home soon. Keep an eye out for him." She says, I nod " Okay mom!" Coco and I play for a few more minutes, and then my dad's car pulls up the driveway. Coco, my dad and I all go inside. " How was school ,Ed?" My dad asks, using one of my nicknames instead of my name, which was nice " Alright." I reply "Hey Eddie bear, I think I have an idea for surprising Kristen tonight" My mom says, I get excited "What is it mom?" I ask "What's the surprise for? What happened ?"My dad asks, petting Coco "Well since Kristen is having her first session with the psychiatrist right now, I wanted to do something nice for her when she gets back" I say "ohhhhh" My dad says grabbing a snack and a water. "Maybe we can drop you and her off at that ice skating rink in Gotham City?" My dad asks. I think about it and now that he mentions it, it's actually a great idea; Kristen loves winter so I figure she'll love this "Wow dad that's a good idea... Can you or mom drop us off there?" I ask them "How about both?" My mom suggests "Sure... That would be great. She can come over to our house first and then we'll take her... If it's okay with her parents of course." My mom nods " I'm sure it will be." My mom calls the Kringles' and they say it's okay. Kristen should be done with her appointment now, and on her way over here. I get a text from Kristen:
"Hi Eddie... I'm on my way to your house.. My parents didn't tell me why they're taking me to your place though"
"You'll see, my love."
I'm excited to take Kristen Ice skating, it's cold outside with flurries, and I have a feeling she'll love it. I hear a knock on the door, I open it and it's Kristen "Kristen!!" I yell hugging her tightly as she comes inside. I kiss her excitedly "Kristen how was it?" I ask "It was... It actually felt kind of good to get it all out... Mrs. Quinn is nice like you said. Thank you for reassuring me, Eddie bear." she bent up and kissed me on the cheek, my parents walked in. "So what's going on? Why did my parents drop me off here?" she asks. I smile at my parents and then back to her "Kristen if it's okay, I'd like to take you ice skating" her eyes widen "REALLY?? OH EDDIE I'D LOVE TO!" She yells smiling as her whole face lights up. She practically attacks me in hugs and kisses, I laugh. "Well let's go! I'll grab one of my coats for you to wear." We head up to my room so we can get coats for ourselves "although....I haven't skated in years, I'm not very good at it...you'll have to help me." She says after a minute. "Neither do I. We'll learn together." I say giggling, I give her my black and purple coat that's way too small for me, but it's still huge on her. I grab myself a green coat and we head downstairs. "Ready to go kiddos?" My dad asks "YES!" Kristen jumps up and down, and then we all get into the car. "Edward, do you want us to wait with you?" My dad asks me as my mom drives "No that's okay dad" I say. We drive into the heart of Gotham city and pull up to the Ice Skating Rink, " Have fun kids!" My dad says " have fun! We'll be back in two hours to pick you up." My mom says as we get out of the car, We are the only ones here. I take her over to the booth where we get ice skates.
"Eddie I think I might fall....I don't have good balance on skates." Kristen says quietly as she gets her skates on "Just hold on to me" I smile. I get mine on and we enter the rink. I hold Kristen's hand and we both practically slip and fall the second our skates meet the ice, but we grab the side railing for support "Eddie....I don't think this will work....we both can't skate......" Kristen says with a laugh " no offense." She adds quickly. I laugh too as we regain our balance "No we can do this!" I giggle determinedly. I start to move one foot after the other slowly, and she follows with her arm locked around mine. We almost slip again but we catch each other. After a couple more minutes, more and more people show up and we actually start to get the hang of it "LOOK! Kristen we're getting better!" I say as we make our way around the circular rink "YAY!!!!!!!!!!!" Kristen exclaims happily. We laugh and joke as we actually figure out how to skate properly. We look around the rink at all the people, the lights, and the tall buildings surrounding us as the snow starts to fall. "Kristen, I love you so much." I say "I love you too, Edward." She says kissing me quickly. We skate for some more and then decide it's time go get some hot chocolate. We exit the rink, take our skates off and head over to the cart selling it. I buy her one and myself one and we sit down at a table "thank you for this." She says "Of course... I know how hard today was for you..." I say "Thank you for talking me into staying at school." I nod as I take a sip from my hot chocolate "I knew you could do it." "I guess so." We finished our hot chocolate and talked, just talked. My mom arrived to pick us up. "Thank you so much Eddie... and you too Mrs. Nygma." Kristen says smiling, she gives me a kiss and we head home.
