Growing Up Ed Nygma 3 - A change of heart

Chapter 6

        We pulled into the driveway " in the back seat there is a bag,grab it for me please." My mom says to me, I nod and get out and grab the bag and go up the steps to the house. Once inside I hand the bag to my mom " look inside of it." She says, I hesitantly look in the bag and I see a pair of dark blue jeans and a dark green polo shirt ( something I don't own yet) I look at my mom "What's this?" She smiles at me " go change. I'm taking you somewhere." She says "Really?" I say, she nods and smiles. I go change into my new clothes, and run back downstairs. She got her purse and keys and opened the door " let's go." I walk out to the car, her following me after she locked the door " I can't come in with you though" She says as we drive to who knows where, past Kristen's street. I look out of the window and smile excitedly. This feels like when my dad unexpectedly took me to the Science Convention... An hours later we pull up outside a restaurant in the downtown core of Gotham City " Why are we here?" I ask her " As I said, I can't come in but when you go in turn to the right and the last table against the wall is the one you want. Somebody is waiting." She says secretly with a knowing look in her eye. "Okay..." I say confusedly and walk inside.

          I turn to my right as she told me I go to the last table against the wall; I break into a grin. " KRISTEN!" it was my turn to shower her in complete excitement as I saw her " Eddie!! I called your mom while you were in the appointment today and I asked if you could come here for dinner and she said sure !" She explained hugging me and as always a nice sweet kiss, probably my favorite thing of her over excited greetings. We sit down, I text my mom a "Thank you." And we look at our menus. "Kristen I'm SO glad to be with you." I say " in what way? Relationship wise or in general ?" She asks taking my hand over top of the table as we always did on dates "Both." we smile. We order drinks, I order a water and she orders a root beer. To eat we got a Nacho and Cheese platter to share seeing as we both were not extremely hungry. We ate "What did you do today?" I ask her ' I had school as did you." She said with some sass, as per usual for her " true, true." I said with a nod " how was school?" I asked her, she shrugged" same as always." I nod. "Miss Quinn is really nice... I think you'll like her. It almost felt good to... get things out." I said after a couple minutes. She looked tense at the thought " y-you sure?" She asks me timidly "Yes. She-she doesn't judge like the rest of them." I say smiling Kristen looked down "oh...that's good then...." "Trust me." I take her hand and we finish eating.

        " What time are we getting picked up?" I asked her "I'm not sure.." She replied taking a sip of her drink " Do you want to take a walk around the city?" I she asks "Sure I'd really like that." I say, we pay and then head out. "I asked my mom what time we are leaving and she said not till 10:00 tonight" Kristen explained, I knew our moms were out together in the city as well and it was only 5:30 now "great.....I have some extra cash from my dad we can use to do somethings." I say as we walked down the street. I put my hands in my pockets and she locked arms with me. "Hm... What could we do around here?" she asks " Well....we can shop if you want or do some sightseeing.....anything really" I say "Let's go to that rooftop with the nice view that everyone goes up to..." She asks and I smile "Let's go" I say, we walk over to the building and look up at the fire escape "...Are we going up that?" I ask "no. There's an elevator inside, It's a tourist attraction." She says with a laugh, we go inside. We head over to the elevator and go up to the top floor. There aren't too many other people here since it's right around dinner time "nice pick my Love. You see all of Gotham City up here" I say kissing her cheek. As we walk on the roof, I see out of the corner of my eye a figure running from rooftop to rooftop with ease. She's a girl seeming younger than us, but her face is hidden by a hood. She looks at me for a minute, and then jumps down the other side. "You ok Ed?" Kristen asks "Oh yeah I just thought I saw something."

       We sit down in the chairs they have available, and watch the sun set over the skyline. She gets closer to me and kisses me. I return the kiss but just as the sun is almost down we leave ,I want to show her where the convenience center is as we get there, but my eyes fall upon it.....The Apartment building. " Kristen....see that apartment?" I ask "Yeah what about it?" She asks " When I move I want to move there....would you want to join me in a few years?" I ask, looking at her. She looks back at me "I... I would love to live there with you Edward Nygma." I smile and we keep watching the sun go down. Kristen looks at me " Eddie...would you want to see a movie tonight?" Kristen asks me "I'd love to!" I say ""let's go see what's playing." She says, we head across the street to the theater and see a Romantic Comedy, holding hands the entire time. My mom picks us up after it's over and drops Kristen off at home. I thank my mom just about a thousand times that night.
