It's the next morning (Tuesday) and all I can think about it Kristen's appointment with Dr. Quinn after school. I know how nervous she is, which is why I want to show her as much comfort and love as I can. I change into a tee shirt and jeans, and head down for breakfast. We have waffles this morning; a change from the usual scrambled eggs. "So Edward, I hear you had a great day yesterday? I'm glad the session went well especially; I'm proud of you, kid." He said taking a sip of soda "Thanks dad." I finish eating and start texting Kristen before I leave for school." Kristen's Appointments today right?" my dad asks me as he sits down beside me on the couch " yep." I say as I send her a text:
"Good morning my love, how did you sleep?" I say
" Morning Eddie dear. I slept great surprisingly, what about you?" She asks
"I'm so glad. I slept great too :)"
"I have to head to school now, bye I love you."
"I love you too." I say, and I also head to school.
It was Lunch, Lee and I were sitting at our table when my phone went off. Kristen Kringle it read, so I answered it stepping outside where I could hear her better. "Kristen? Everything okay?" I ask " Edward.....Edward I-I can't go tonight" Kristen says sounding extremely panicked and crying "What do you mean? Kristen what's wrong??" I ask concerned "I.....I......" She began to cry extremely hard " I could hear the voices as usual but........but....." She sniffled "But what? What happened next?" I ask her calmly " I saw something.....well more like a person.....and- and she.....wasn't really there." She explained, sounding terrified "A hallucination?" I asked. I had those back when the beatings from my dad were the most severe "Kristen... It wasn't real. It's all in your head... This is what we're going to the psychiatrist for. She's going to help" Kristen was crying harder than ever " Edward......can-can you call home and go home sick and I can call home too?" She asked me through sobs "Kristen you can do this. If you get through today, you can get through anything. Be the brave, beautiful, strong woman I know you are." I say. The bell rings, but I don't move. I'm willing to stay with Kristen on the phone as long as it takes. "Eddie please.....I can't do this." She begs "Yes you can. Yes you can. I know you can. Kristen you can do anything. Be strong for me. It was all in your head" I reassure her as best as I can "Eddie ple-" " Sis come on, you have class!" I hear Carly say, cutting Kristen off " Fine. I have to go......Bye.....I love you." Kristen says through sniffles "I knew you could do it. I love you too.. Text me when school's over." and we hang up. I finally get to class and receive a tardy slip from my teacher, but I could care less. "What's wrong?" Lee asks as I sit down beside her "Kristen had a hallucination" I say quietly as I get my binder out "She okay?" Lee asks "I hope so." I say, and class goes on. School ends. I walk out of the building and I get a text from Kristen:
"Hey Eddie....I semi made it through the day, I did call home though but my mom said I had to stay cause she's at work as is dad so I was forced to stay but I did break down in tears a few times on Carly's shoulder on break." She tells me
"But you did it, my love. I'm so proud of you... Are you on your way to Arkham?" I ask
" Not yet, I just got home." She says
"Oh I see." I respond, my mom now taking me home
" Okay I gotta go change and quickly grab a snack then I'll message you when in the van. Bye, I Love you." She says
"Okay, I love you too." I say, and after a few minutes I get home. "Hey mom? I was wondering if we could do something nice for Kristen after her session today... She's had a bad day already." I ask when we get inside." Of course... What happened? Bad teacher or something?" My mom asks taking her shoes off by the door "She.. Had a hallucination." I tell her hesitantly "she did?! Is she okay" My mom asks worriedly "I think she's okay now... Luckily her sister Carly was there to calm her down." I say as I get a snack in the kitchen "That's good....Well what should we do for her?" My mom asks as goes into the kitchen. "I'm not sure..." I say
