Even before I open my eyes, I'm already remembering what happened. The burning in my neck is gone, and I'm in someone's bed.

"Tessie?" a voice says, sounding really sad. "Are you asleep?"

When I finally open my eyes, I'm greeted with complete darkness. Even though I can't see Jacob, I sure can feel him. He's everywhere. His warm body is completely wrapped around mine. I'm being pressed against his chest, and his legs are tangled with my legs.

"Jacob?" my voice cracks, but it still sounds soft. I brush my fingertips over his cheeks to find out that they're wet. "Are you crying?"

He presses me tighter against him. After a long moment of silence, I go back to my dreamland.

In my dream, his black hair looks messy, like he just got out of bed. As usual, he's six inches taller than me. I try not to notice how nicely his jeans hang on his body and how good he looks shirtless. When our gazes lock, his eyes widen in surprise.

"What are you doing here?" he says low.

Jacob, I think. I'm dreaming about Jacob, yet it feels so real.

"You tell me," I manage to whisper.

He sighs. "This is a dream. You know that, right?"

"Obviously," I say. "But how do you know that?"

"After I bit you, somehow and some way, I found a way to get in your head while you were sleeping. But I don't know how you got in my head."

I cross my arms. "Why did you bite me?"

At my question, Jacob goes white.

"I, uh. . .marked you."

"Marked me?!"

"Did I say mark? I meant bit. It's how we mark our territory–um, I meant mate."

I smirk. I've never seen him so nervous before. "Territory, huh?"

His eyes widen. "I didn't mean it like that!"

I narrow my eyes. "Whatever. I just want to know how to get rid of it."

His nervous gaze snaps to mine in a heated glare. With inhuman speed, he roughly picks me up, and on instinct, my legs wrap around his waist.

"You're never getting rid of it," he growls. "That means you're mine."

He nuzzles his head on my neck, and I flinch. Is he going to bite me again? But to my surprise, he places a gentle kiss on the mark, and I moan. His arm presses me tighter against him, while his other one gently tilts my head to the side. He immediately starts placing kisses all over my neck and my jaw, and when he brings his precious assault back to the mark on my neck, I moan loudly, my hands going to tug on his hair.

"Don't do that," he growls. "We can't go that far yet."

"I can't even hate you, Jacob," I whisper, resting my head on his chest as I fight back tears.

He sighs. "It's the mark. It kind of. . .seals our love."

"But what if I never wanted to love you in the first place?"

At that, he releases me.

"Tessie," he says in a quiet and tight voice. "You don't mean that." His body starts to shake, and I stay quiet to ensue my safety. He leaves a trail of kisses from my neck to my lips, and I quickly turn my head, not wanting to kiss him. He growls, roughly turning my head back to face him.

But this time he doesn't try to kiss me.

"I'm so sorry, Tessa. I don't know why I did it. I just. . .I. . ." His voice cracks, and he buries his face in my hair, his body shaking with sobs.

My heart breaks. I use one hand to run soothingly through his hair and the other one to wipe his tears away.

"Don't cry, Jacob," I whisper.

And then my dream crashes down on me.

___________

I gasp awake, tears rushing down my cheeks. I look over at Jacob to find that he's still sleeping. Was my dream really a dream or did Jacob really get in my head?

I don't know what to believe.

Sighing, I get up. I meant it when I said that I can't hate him. It's literally like after he bit me, all of my hate for him died. And now all I feel is love.

But it's wrong for me to feel it if I didn't before he marked me.
