Chapter 25 Without a seconds thought

The gathering was over. All the builders ran over to Gally, I didn't care though. "You okay" Gally asked "why?" I ask Gally looks at me confused "why what" "why do you care, I never asked anyone to care yet people do" I rant "Look I understand your upset and annoyed at Newt but don't take it out on me" "don't bring Newt into this" I say pointing a finger at him. Gally raises an eyebrow "really" he says. 

"Why is everyone here so annoying" I ask the sky. I walked into the dead heads. I like to pay respect for everyone, and seeing as Ben is going to be banished it feels like the right time. "Are you okay"Newt asks behind me "physically or mentally" I sigh "does it matter" "yes" I say sharply "oh" I chuckle, is oh all he can come up with, wow. "Look I'm sorry for what happened" he says walking over to me "really cause you didn't seem sorry when Minho yelled at me, I mean what the hell was that Newt" I ask angrily "I'm sorry I didn't do anything" Newt says "Newt I'm not a baby, I have feelings and let me tell you, that hurt, a lot. You weren't there for me though." I say gently "I know, please I'm sorry, I love you Raylea, and what I did was wrong, I was never there for you. I want to change that" Newt says. 

We sit there in silence. "It's time" Newt says standing up offering me a hand. I don't need to ask him what it's time for, I knew already. I shook my head "I don't want to see that"I say looking back at the graves.

I can hear Ben screams even from here. Ben was the first friend I made, he was nice to me before anyone else was and now he's dead. I can't even say it, it just doesn't seem real, I can imagen walking past him again, and having a conversation with him. Even though in the back of my head, I know that can't happen. 

§~~~~TIME SKIP TO DINNER THE NEXT DAY~~~~§ 

"Wait so you found a dead griever, like a dead one" I ask Minho astonished "yeah, like a dead one" Minho mimickes I roll my eyes but Newt squeezes my hand. "Me and Alby are checking it out tomorrow" Minho tells us. I can't believe he found a dead one. "You know that's not going to end well" Max states "always the optimist" Newt sighs, Max gives him a thumbs up and I face plambed, really. "Well actually I think I recognise the dead griever, it's Mary's father, mary is one of the Grievers I have a crush on so maybe now her dads dead we can hook up" Minho says chuckling "ONE of the grievers, how many do you have a crush on" Newt asks "at least 6" Minho answers counting on his fingers "ah congratulations Minho, can I be best man" Max asks shaking Minhos hand "I'll have to ask Mary" Minho says "see Newt, your not the only one who can get a hot girlfriend" Minho says sticking his tounge out, Wait did he call me hot. "Hey only I get to call Ray hot" Newt says punching Minho in the arm "wow forget about Mary, it's all about Raylea" Max says winking at me "wow" I say "just ... wow" is all I manage to get out before laughing. 

§~~~~TIME SKIP TO TOMORROW BEFORE THE DOORS CLOSE~~~~§ 

"Can't we send someone after them" Thomas asks, we are all crowded around the door, waiting for Minho and Alby. "It's against the rules, either they make it out or they don't" Gally says watching the door like a hawk "can't risk losing anybody else" Newt chimes in. "What's that" Chuck asks pointing, it's Minho and Alby, all the boys start cheering them on. The doors suddenly start to close. I look at Newt and he looks at me, we are thinking the exact same thing. They're not going to make it. "Come on Minho" Chuck yells. I can't just let him die, I can save him, I can kill grievers I need to save him. Without a seconds thought I charge through the doors "Ray no" Newt yells "Thomas what are you doing" Chuck yells, I look behind me to see Thomas running behind me. Looks like we both had the same idea, well not really my idea is to kill any grievers I come across and Thomas's plan is clearly to get himself killed. 

"Good job, you just got yourself killed" Minho says pointing at Thomas. "What about her" Thomas asks "unless I do something heroic and sacrifice myself for you all, I'm fine." I state. "How" Thomas asks "No time for questions Tom Tom, we need to put Alby somewhere." I say walking over to Alby. "Minho did you" "I did what I had to" Minho snaps cutting me of. Okay then, looks like we need to spend a night in the maze...
