"What the hell were you doing?" screamed Jake.
"Well... ummm... I-"
"You know banging a girl on school property can get you arrested." snapped Nick.
"Dude, relax. I wasn't freaking banging her-"
"Well, that's what I damn saw!"
Nick took on a confused expression. "What were you even doing with The Retard?"
My face felt hot and my throat dry. "She's NOT a retard." I choked out between heavy breaths.
They laughed.
"Someone who hasn't talked in a year is a retard, David."
"She's not!" I insisted. "She's... She's different from the others."
"Different?" Nick sputtered between laughs and snickers. "How... Different? You didn't LOVE the others. You screwed 'em. The only thing that could be different is their ovari-"
I ran to him and grabbed the cuff of his shirt in my fist.
"You can shut the the hell up before I pummel you." I muttered.
Jake gasped and gaped.
Nick tried (and failed) to speak up.
I dropped his shirt.
I stared into his empty eyes.
It was the last I saw of them.

It was our first official date.
I was taking her to the Summer Festival downtown- there's rides and music and food and all for the price of like, 3 dollars.
And damn, she looked beautiful.
She was wearing a floral dress, orange and pink, and it reached down to her knees.
The neckline was shallow and modest, and the soft cloth covered her shoulders entirely.
Her long, auburn hair was tied up into a high side bun, and she wore just the slightest bit of makeup.
I wanted to hold her.
I wanted to love her.
But her dad was there, and I wanted to make a good impression.
We piled up into my car, and headed out. 15 minutes later, we arrived.
I love the Summer Festival.
The music is loud and blaring, but soft and sweet. The food's odors are overpowering, but add a nice mood. Everything's just perfect, only better this time.
Because she was there.
God, I love her.
