You would think I was a princess, the way he treated me.

There were little things; opening doors for me, waiting on me, taking my order for me.

On the other hand, you'd think we were long-lost lovers.

These were big things; staring at me instead of eating, then blushing and smiling at his plate when I caught him. His hand brushing against mine, and his face going red and his lips pressing together.

It was a magical night.

There were rides, and people, and beautiful music and delicious food. I've never talked so much in my life.

And, of course, every fairy tale has a happy ending.

So did this night.

~

"I'm just gonna take a quick pit stop in the Boy's Room, alright, sweetie?"

Pit stop? Boy's Room? C'mon dad, this is my FIRST. EVER. DATE. Can we lay off the '70's lingo a little bit?

He walked off, humming a happy little tune from some Disney movie that I can't identify.

We started walking back to the car in silence.

His hand brushed mine, but instead of going beet-red, he smiled. He took my hand in his.

It was warm.

We kept walking.

"The stars are out tonight," he whispered to me.

I looked up into the dark sky.

"You're right," I replied.

He stared at me.

I stared at him.

"How do you know if the stars are out if you aren't even looking at them?" I questioned.

He smiled.

"Because I can see them all from right here," he said. "They're all in your eyes..." he whispered, putting a stray strand of hair behind my ear. "You have such beautiful eyes."

Now it was my turn to blush.

We sat inside the car, waiting for my dad.

"Dawn," he whispered, so close to my ear. "Dawn... I'm afraid I'm in love."

"Oh?" I said, in mock surprise. "With who?"

"The most beautiful girl in the world," he replied.

He kissed me.

I leaned into it, such a spectacular kiss, so splendiferous and long and passionate.

I kissed back, and he kissed back.

'It's a team effort, the wild world of kissing,' I thought to myself.

I wrapped one arm around his neck, pulling him closer to me. With the other, I reached around him, to his back, and tucked my fingers into the loop holes of his belt.

He held my waist and his other hand laid on the top of my thigh.

After a while of the soft kissing, he kissed me harder. I kissed back, stronger and more passionate than before. My tongue clashed into his teeth, asking for entry.

He granted it.

I explored his mouth, loving every moment of this.

I kissed and kissed and his arms kept wrapping around me and everything was perfect and-

My dad walked in.

And the worst part was?

We didn't even notice.

I continued to kiss, and his arms slid up the back of my shirt, grasping the backs of my bra strap.

"Ahem."

My dad cleared his throat.

We jumped apart faster than light.

"Well. Glad to see you two got to the car alright," muttered my dad.

~

Besides the awkward dad moment, that was the best night of my life. And our fairy tale romance didn't stop then.

Our dating went public, and everyone thought we were the weirdest couple ever.

I didn't care.

I was in love, fully and infinitely.

Matt brought me flowers, every day, to school.

He brought me to dinner on weekends, but we had no further make out sessions, to afraid of my dad.

Everything was perfect.

Until... Until that night.

Their anniversary.
