In 1 Corinthians 12:13, Paul said “For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body--whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free--and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.” Now in Rom 6:3-8 Paul said “Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him,” Titus 3:5-7 says “He saved us, not because of deeds done by us in righteousness, but in virtue of his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal in the Holy Spirit, which he poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that we might be justified by his grace and become heirs in hope of eternal life.” Colossians 2:10-12 says “and in Him (Christ) you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority; and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ; having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.” Galatians 3:27 “For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.”
So you see, when we were baptized into the body of Christ, we were incorporated into the body of Christ, the church, and His righteousness was imputed to us. It is this spiritual experience that gave us a vital union with Jesus Christ as the head and we, His body, with Him as the vine and we, His branches (John 15:1-8). We partook of His life. We became one with Christ. We become inseparably united with Jesus Christ. This is a spiritual experience which is difficult to explain in human language. Hence to sum all these up in my own tongue;
When you believed and confessed the Lord Jesus Christ, you were baptized by the Holy Spirit into the body of Jesus Christ hence you were in Christ. Your old man was crucified with Christ, died with Christ on the cross and was buried with Him. You were regenerated, renewed, and justified by Grace so that you became heirs of eternal life. In other words, you were created anew in Christ according to God in true righteousness and holiness. This is your rebirth. You were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God from above. You were then raised together and made to sit together in the heavenly places with you being in Christ Jesus. Now as a new creature, you are to be transformed into the image of the Son of God by the renewal of your mind in the knowledge of the Word of God.
(Eph. 2:6-10, 2 Cor. 5:17, John 1:13, Titus 3:5-7, Eph. 4:24 & Col 3:10).The God who created the universe is outside of the universe. He isn’t affected or limited by it. The God of the Bible isn’t limited by time, space and matter. God is I AM, the Eternal One who lives in eternity. God is the incomprehensible Creator existing outside of space, matter and time. With God all these things are possible. This shows how the body of Christ is constituted. The Spirit is the agent that baptizes one into the body of Christ which results in the new birth. Meaning, when one is born again one is baptized into the body of Christ before and without baptism with water. This is the “one baptism” Paul referred to in Eph. 4:5, because this is the only baptism that brings all Christians into the body of Christ at repentance and the new birth.
