There is something about cooking and baking that calms me. They make me use all my energy and built-up tension in my head--making them disappear like a burst of bubble, and the result of the tiring activity is something edible. Although if you push me enough, I'd say the exact reason why I love cooking and baking; I love the look on someone's face as they take the very first bite on the food I made to find out whether it tastes good or not.

My brother loves my chocochip cookies, my mom always asks me to make a huge amount of lasagna for every family gathering because everyone loves it, and my friends all said my cheesecake is great.

This particular someone, however, constantly questions whether the food is edible or not, despite the fact that I always give him a piece of everything I made.

"I baked some matcha cookies," I tell him as I opened the door to his house, fumbling with my shoes in the process. "Try some."

Jaehwan walks toward me to close the door. He eyes the paper bag I'm holding and snatches it, nearly ripping the paper as he sniffs on it. Rude. "Are you sure this is edible?"

He closes the door before taking one of my hand, guiding me to the sofa where he sat earlier. I roll my eyes at his question. "Nah, not edible for you, it's food for humans,"

Jaehwan snorts at my attempt to sound bitter. I just continue to sulk as he slips his finger between the cracks of the paper bag and grabs one cookie, popping it into his mouth.

"It tastes like... matcha cookies." He says as he chews.

"Good finding, Sherlock," I hiss in annoyance. "now give them back, you clearly don't appreciate my effort,

"Now, now, it's rude to ask something back once you already give it," he explains with hands still going through the paper bag, grabbing the cookies one by one. "Kidding. It's delicious."

Ha. Now he knows how to compliment someone properly. Especially someone who bothered walking to his house in the middle of icy cold winter just to deliver one pack of cookies.

Jaehwan is now done finishing an entire batch of cookies. He is busy licking the tips of his fingers before he continues, "This is great. I will get to eat free cookies for years and years, thanks to you."

Unlike someone, I am most definitely not stupid, so I understand the real meaning behind those words. Did he just implied that he sees me in the projection of his future? That he still wants to be with me for years? That was the smoothest way to assure someone, and oddly, i feel secure and safe and all the words related to that feeling.

If this was a cliche drama, I'd be all shy and giggly. But this is Jaehwan who said it, it'll be weird to react like that, so I just smirk.

"You gonna have to work for that,"

"Oho, just see. I will."
