CHAPTER 13

***********************************

Ladies and gentlemen!

Introducing: Day One Of The Prank Wars.

So the day after the movie, I thought I'd play a little prank on Lucas at school. When I woke up that morning, I brain-stormed ideas as I got dressed.

After thinking through a couple of options, I decided on pouring a bucket of goo on top of him right when he walks in the school doors. I'll have to take the stairs up to the roof and somehow get a large bucket of goo... Figuring I needed help, I called Claire.

Her call went straight to voicemail.

I wonder what she's up to right now. Maybe Mathew'll pick up.

Dialing his number, I listen through a few rings until he picks up.

"Sup." He said.

"Hey, can you help me with something?" I wonder.

He doesn't reply, instead I hear mumbled voices. Who is he talking to?

"Hello?" I ask with curiosity.

More mumbles. I wait a few minutes for him to stop talking to the person.

"Hey, sorry." He speaks back into the phone. "What did you say?"

"Oh, I just asked if you could help me with something."

"I betcha I can, what do ya need?"

I smile, "I want to play a prank on Lucas." I propose.

I hear him laughing, "Well, I'm a perfect helper for that!"

"Great! Um, do you have a bucket of goo by any chance?"

"Evelyn, whatever you're up to, so far I'm liking it." I can just here him grinning through the phone, "What's the goo for?"

"I want to pour it on top of him as he walks into the school." I tell him excitedly.

"Nice, I don't usually have a bucket of goo with me, but today you're in luck."

"Really?!"

That was unexpected...

"Yep, my mom just bought a bunch of this gooey face mask stuff for her salon shop. She has tons of it, so I don't think she'll notice if I borrow some."

"Ha! Yeah, 'borrow'. She'll definitely want it back after it's been smothered all over a boy." I remark sarcastically.

"Oh you know what I mean!" His deep voice mutters. "Meet me at my locker ten minutes before school starts?"

"Yeah, sure."

"'K, see you soon."

"Bye." I say. When I hang up a large grin grows on my face, I love having him as a friend.

I jump up from where I was sitting on my bed and finish getting ready. I plop my toothbrush into my mouth after running it under cold water and squeezing toothpaste on.

"Evelyn!" Maddie says my name from behind me. I turn around to see her standing in the doorway of the bathroom. "Can you please braid my hair? Mommy is busy talking to daddy."

I nod my head and finish brushing my teeth, "Come sit over here." I tell her gently and sit her down on my bed.

Maddie has long, carmel colored hair. I put it into two braids and let them fall onto her shoulders. "Thank you," she scurries off down the stairs.
