The sun left little warmth on her skin as she brushed her school robes free of the dirt as the four girls stood around her, jeering and pointing as she picked up her messenger bag. A bird's song rose up over the small noise the Black Lake made as it made contact with land. Angelina Parkinson scowled as she continued brushing herself off.
"We told you this is our spot, whale. Get out of here now."
"You don't own the grounds," Angelina snapped, subconsciously pulling her robes closer to her body.
"You disgust me," one of the girls spat, her face scrunched up with distaste.
"Oi! You lot, what's going on here?"
Angelina let out a long sigh as her sister headed their way, her face was scrunched up as she hurried to the scene, folding her arms and scowling when she stopped beside her sister.
"This doesn't concern you, Parkinson," the tallest girl of the group said, flipping her filthy brown hair over one shoulder.
"It does," Pansy snorted, "if I see you messing with my sister one more time, I'll make sure you'll regret it."
The three girls gave dirty looks before stalking off, Angelina turned to her sister and frowned, "I could've handled that myself."
"Yeah, right," Pansy snorted before sighing, "you need to defend yourself more."
"I was trying before you came and interrupted!"
Pansy shook her head slightly, sighing heavily, her expression looking worn out and unhappy. "I realize that, but-"
"You never cared about having to come save me before," Angelina said as the two walked up the hill to the castle, heading in for lunch with the other students.
Pansy shook her head, "I'm not always going to be there to save you."
Angelina nodded once, they were a year apart, Pansy was in her fifth year and Angelina was in her fourth. But the two of them were still very close, they did everything together when classes weren't in their way. Pansy smiled slightly, putting an arm around Angelina's shoulders, "let's go get food, I'm hungry."
The two walked into the Great Hall, Angelina brushing her fingers along the oak door as she passed by before heading over to the Slytherin table. Pansy hurried her footsteps to the table, taking her seat across from Draco Malfoy and Blaise Zabini. Angelina lowered her gaze as she sat across from Draco, feeling the heat radiating from his knees to hers, underneath the table.
"Parkinsons," Draco said in a bored voice, looking over a letter he'd received.
Angelina's attention was drawn to the staff table, noting the hideous pink blob seated at the end, "god, she's an eyesore."
Pansy looked over her shoulder and nodded once, "so Draco, what's with the note?"
"Mmm? Oh, it's nothing," Draco shook his head slightly while pocketing the letter.
"Oh no....she's on the move," Angelina muttered.
"At least she leaves us alone," Blaise offered with a shrug while the others nodded in agreement.
"Ah-hem."
The four of them looked up to see Umbridge looking at them with that signature smile, "I would like you four to come to my office after lunch," she turned on her heel and walked away.
"What was that all about? Not like we've gotten caught messing with Potter's lot lately." Pansy questioned, prodding her salad with very little enthusiasm.
Angelina shrugged, taking a piece of chicken and picking the meat with her fork, out of the corner of her eye she watched Draco look down at his plate of sandwiches with a frown. Angelina's heart quickened when his stone eyes met hers, a smirk crept on his face as Pansy reached for one of Draco's hands across the table. Angelina looked back to her food, trying to ignore the feeling that began to form in the pit of her stomach.
When it came right down to it. Angelina was jealous of her sister.
Pansy was in love with Draco, that was well known and she wasn't afraid to flaunt it. That's what made them completely different: Angelina wasn't outgoing like her sister. She was private about her feelings.
And the one thing she really didn't want people to know was that she fancied Draco Malfoy. A lot.
"We're leaving now, Angelina," Draco's voice brought her out of her thoughts, she looked down at her chicken, it was shredded into little pieces, unappetizing. She nodded, getting her bag and following the three out of the hall.
As they walked, Angelina couldn't help but watch Pansy sling her arm through Draco's and give a loud, flirty laugh, as they walked. Angelina looked down at herself as they continued, she was in no possible way skinny like her sister, she had a figure that was wider than accepted by typical health standards. Many students here made fun of her for her physique. She had a chest that people would be jealous of if she could only manage to get rid of her midriff. The only thing that made a smile cross Angelina's face was that Angelina had a heart shaped face while Pansy's face was slightly pushed together. But because her body wasn't widely accepted, Pansy could flaunt herself all she wanted and get anyone she set her eyes on.
And unfortunately for Angelina, that included the one person she fancied.
Angelina was brought out of her thoughts when they reached Umbridge's office, Angelina cringed-so much pink. And kittens.
"I asked you four here to help begin a special program. That I am calling: the inquisitorial squad," Umbridge began, but Angelina had no interest in this meeting. If this position required people to respect her, then she was out--no one ever listened to someone who was heavier and shorter than them.
