Nala could immediately see why the princess had a reputation as the most beautiful woman in all of Saynts.
She might well be.
Her hair was golden with lighter highlights, twisted into a bun at the back and curls escaping around her petite face, her yes were pale blue and stood out surrounded by pale lashes and her skin was only a little less paler than milk.
If it was possible, kindness seemed to radiate out from her, something about the slight smile to her lips and the pinkness of her cheeks, and the way she bounced rather than walked, as if each step was fueled by joy.
When Narla had first seen her earlier that day she had though her an Angel. One of lady Saynts companions from the art pieces Kris had her steal from the merchant district.
She found it hard to believe her to be the future queen who would one day rule the kingdom that was the death of many of her fellow Dwells.
And she certainly didn't act like it.
The first thing she did when she bounced into the room was to stare at Nala with her wide innocent eyes that made Narla feel uncomfortable because she had never seen someone so unaware of pain and hardship and being in her very presence made her chest hurt, as though her heart were trying to de-frost.
The Princess then turned to the guard with hazel eyes, and her expression fell a little.
"Saynts! Cain? What happened to your poor lip?" she said drifting closer to him looking concerned.
"Nothing your highness", he replied shooting Narla a dirty look, "Just a little trouble getting the prisoner here is all"
Alyssa rounded on Narla, "Thats not very nice, why must you do that" she demanded
Narla just stared at her not sure what to say, it surprised her that the breaking princess of Saynts would care about a lowly guards injury.
"She struggled your highness" Cain said, "it was nothing me or my men couldn't handle"
"Still, its hardly good manners" Alyssa replied crossly.
At this point Narla began to laugh.
The absurdity of her situation becoming apparent.
"The breaking-" she continued to laugh "-Princess of Saynts cares bout a split lip" she giggled
"This be some crazy shit right ere, me, ghetto dwellin thief, an Ive seen me the breaking princess twice now" she shook her head still laughing.
"This be the weirdest breakin day o my entire life"
The princess blinked innocent eyes at her.
"I hardly see whats so funny" she said, watching the laughing thief as if she had gone insane.
" You don't? jus ask you guard ere, no doubt theys findin this funnier an me" Narla shook her head."An ere I though they gonna just show me all is food an kill me,
but they gonna rub it in deeper by makin the breakin princess present"
"Kill you" the princess asked confused, her eyes flickered over Cain, "I have issued no order for your death, you are not to be killed"
Narla had stopped laughing, she assessed the future queen in front of her, and chose to believe her.
"Really" she said slowly "t's a shame, cuz he really wants't" she nodded in Cains direction.
"Nonsense" the princess said dismissively, "Cain follows my orders, and will do as I command" she paused and regarded Nala with a smile "As will you Narla."
