Chapter 6

"Are your friends always assholes?"

-Echo's POV-

I jumped out of my skin, being woken up by knocking at my door. I came to my senses and realised Wyatt was behind me, his hand on my hip as he sat up slightly.

"Shit, who the fuck is that?" I whispered, turning round to face Wyatt and sitting myself up.

"I don't know... I'll get it." Wyatt mumbled, climbing out of bed and heading towards the door. I was just about to tell him not to, but it was too late. He opened the door, and we both saw Finn, Millie, Sophia and Jack in the door way, with wide eyes.

"Oh shit! I was right!" Finn yelled, waving his arms and laughing, Jack joining in.

"Guys-"

"Well done bro, finally!" Finn cut Wyatt off and shook him by the shoulder. I saw Millie and Sophia look over at me and raise their eyebrows, but I shook my head at them, knowing exactly what they were thinking. "Echo, you must be special, Wyatt doesn't-"

"Finn, shut the fuck up!" Wyatt snapped loudly, making everyone fall silent and Finn and Jack's faces dropped. "You have this whole thing fucked up, mind your business." Wyatt said, before shoving past the two if them, and I soon heard the front door slam. The four turned to face me, shock on their faces, but I just sat on my bed awkwardly.

"Finn, Jack, you should probably go." Sophia said, before entering my room, Millie following behind her and closing the door. "Okay so... why the hell was Wyatt in bed with you?"

"Guys, I swear to god it wasn't what it looked like." I said in a panic, only to realise that they were both smiling at me... of course, why would they be mad? "It just kind of happened...he took me to bed last night and fell asleep at the end of my bed."

"How did he end up in your bed, missy?" Millie asked playfully.

"We both woke up and he wanted to stay so I let him climb in with me because it was cold." I said, smiling slightly to myself.

"Did you cuddle?" Sophia asked me with excitement, and after a moment, I nodded, struggling to hold back the grin on my face.

"I ship it!" Millie yelled in excitement, and I winced a little at how loud she was.

"I don't think Wyatt does though..." I trailed off, sighing. "Did you see how he reacted when Finn said those things?"

"Yeah, I don't know maybe he was just  getting irritated with Finn, he can be pretty annoying." Millie said, and me and Sophia exchanged a look, but kept our mouths sealed.

It was the next day, the night before me and the girls had decided to watch a movie and eat ice cream, we needed a break from drinking and it helped; I woke up feeling refreshed. I decided that I was going to go to town and explore, I hadn't really left the apartment since the welcome lecture. I was just finishing up my makeup with I heard my phone buzz, and I looked at it.

wyatt 💧- hey

echo 🔥- hey Wyatt

wyatt💧- sorry about how I left yesterday, Finn and Jack were pissing me off

echo🔥- oh don't worry I totally understand, it did look weird and that's kind of embarrassing for you I guess

wyatt💧- what? no way, that's so wrong. anyways, what you doing today?

echo🔥- im about to go to town

wyatt💧- mind if I join?

I smiled and agreed, blushing hard at what he had just said. Maybe he wasn't actually embarrassed...wow. I put my phone down and quickly threw my hair up in a bun before grabbing my bag and heading out the door, to meet Wyatt just outside our building. After waiting for a minute, I heard the door open and saw Wyatt walk out.

"Hey Echo." He said, smiling slightly, and I returned one. "So, what were you going to do in town?"

"I don't know, just look around I guess..." I began. "I needed to get out of that apartment."

"Yeah, me too." Wyatt chuckled as we began to walk. "The guys are driving me fucking insane."

"Why?"

"They just won't stop teasing and asking about the other night. " He sighed. "I'm sorry if it sounded like I was getting defensive because I was embarrassed, that's not-"

"Don't worry Wyatt." I cut him off. "You don't have to explain yourself, I believed you when you said you weren't the first time." I looked up at him as we walked and he seem to of relaxed a little. We exchanged more small talk as we reached town, and explored the stores and streets, I felt so content, I didn't want it to end.

"I'm starving, let's find a place to eat, I'll buy us lunch." Wyatt said as he ran his fingers through his hair while we both exited a store that we had been browsing.

"There's a place right there." I said, pointing to a small coffee shop that I had just noticed, and we both headed in that direction. We entered and it was quiet, only a few people dotted around, which I liked. We walked up to the counter and browsed the selection of food.

"Can I get an americano and a ham sandwich please." Wyatt asked the server before turning to me. "What do you want, Echo?"

"Uh, a latte and a chocolate muffin please."

After getting our food and drink, we found a spot in the corner and made ourselves comfortable.

"So." I began, finishing off my mouthful off chocolate muffin. "Are your friends always assholes?"

"Most of the time, yeah." Wyatt laughed, throwing his head back. "They can be okay. Finn and Jack are the fucking worst though, it's like looking after children."

"Yeah, they're pretty annoying... I like them though. I'm glad we all became friends." I smiled, and Wyatt smiled back, before taking a sip of his coffee. We sat is silence for a minute, before I finally got enough courage to ask what was on the back of my mind.

"Wyatt?"

"Yeah?"

"Why didn't you just go back up to your room?" I said quietly, instantly regretting it.

"Uh...why?" Wyatt stammered, I seemed to of caught him off guard.

"I don't know I just... I wouldn't sleep upright at the end of a bed in the cold all night." Wyatt looked down for a second, before I saw a small smirk creep on his face.

"I didn't want to leave you." He said, finally looking at me with his pretty brown eyes. "I just like being with you, it feels right." I couldn't help but smile to myself.

"I feel the same way."
