Namjoon was awaken by something very strange, a man whisper yelling and cries that were all too familiar. The man didn't sound like his father leaving one last option. He opened his eyes, puffy from crying all night, and jumped out of bed.
If it's who I think it is I'll be waking up in jail for my remaining mornings, Namjoon thought flinging his door open. He could hear his sister shush the man and whisper something to him. Namjoon opened the door his sister's cramped bedroom, revealing Eunha with a man by definition, but he was no man. Sunghyun was a boy.
"Hello H-" Sunghyun started before getting stopped short.
"Get out," Namjoon spoke in between clenched teeth as he pointed to the door. "Get out before you leave in a ambulance!"
"Joon, please," Eunha looked at Namjoon with eyes that were pleading. "Please don't. I asked him to come over." Namjoon watched Eunha's frame shrink making her belly twice as noticeable.
He sighed shaking off his face ridden with pity, and put on one that was rather intimidating. He stood his ground, although in the moment he wouldn't like anything more than to act as though he was never woken up.
"Why would you be so-"
"Stupid," Eunha cut her brothers sentence short, "yeah, I know." She shrunk even more looking down into her lap. "I just wanted to talk with him, am I not allowed to talk to him?" She trailed her thoughts raising her voice slightly.
Namjoon did think he might be over reacting a bit but he still didn't back down and kept his fist clenched. "Okay, but he's hurt you before..." he said turning his focus back to Sunghyun, whom was even more on high alert.
"Give me one good reason he should be here, Eunha."
She gave no response at first so Namjoon got closer to Sunghyun. Eunha wasn't too keen on speaking her mind out loud because of the not every forgiving situation. She grabbed at Sunghyun's hand pulling him in closer to where she sat on the bed. Namjoon soften watching his sister's boyfriend sit down next to her feeling her baby bump.
"Fine," the eldest paused, "why was he talking to you like that?"
They younger two kept silent giving Namjoon more ammunition. He turned to Sunghyun, "why was my sister crying?"
"I was n-" Eunha interjected but was silenced by Namjoon's glare.
"Don't lie, Eunha." He said switching his glare from Eunha to Sunghyun then back to Eunha. "Did he hurt you again?"
Eunha shook her head avoiding eye contact at all cost. What's going on? Namjoon asked himself trying to piece things together.
"Then why?"
Eunha looked down painfully and spoke in a whisper, "Because we're going to be alone."
Namjoon stared blankly at Sunghyun but talked to his sister only "That means?"
"He... doesn't want anything to do with his... daughter." The sentence was forced out, sounding like it choked Eunha to say it.
Namjoon came very close to strangling Sunghyun, but he knew that it would only worsen his relationship with his sister.
"Please, just go back to bed so we can talk," she said running her fingers in her hair like she was seconds from yanking it out.
Namjoon reluctantly nodded, then going back to his room but he wouldn't fall back asleep.
The walls were thin in the tiny rooms of their small apartment, Namjoon could hear alot of the conversation. It wasn't hard to notice that Songhyun, as Namjoon often did, was crying. Unlike Namjoon, Songhyun didn't cry alone. He could hear the soft whimpers of his sister in between her boyfriend's whaling. It was almost like a mournful duet.
