I woke up and in a white room with a IV in my arm. I groaned and rubbed my head. I couldn't feel my left leg and it bothered me. I flipped the covers off and gasped. My leg wasn't there instead it was replaced with a metal, futuristic, robotic leg. I lifted it. It was light and strong. I pulled the tubes out that were connected to my arm and sat up. I moved my legs off the bed and put my feet on the cold floor. I put weight on my left, robotic foot and still felt nothing. I tried walking on it and it was harder than I thought. I tried to wlk normal but it was hard when I couldn't feel anything.
"You okay?" I heard Carlene's voice at the doorway. I looked up at her.
"My left leg is gone," I stated. She smiled and nodded.
"Larry really damaged it," she informed me. I nodded. I wasn't mad. I felt better and my leg didn't hurt anymore.
"I talked to your mother," Carlene said. My eyes widen.
"She's here?" I asked. She nodded. I didn't care if I was wearing a patient dress. I wanted to see Sherry. I stepped out into the hallway and someone hugged me from behind. I reacted immediately and turned around. I slammed the person into the wall.
"River!" Carlene yelled. The person I slammed into the wall was my mother. She looked at me. Fear and shock was plain in her eyes.
"Mom...I'm sorry," I said with worry. She shook her head and wrapped her arms around me. I hugged her back tightly.
"Hey River," I heard Astrid's voice behind me. I sighed and let Sherry go. I turned to face Astrid. She stepped up to hug me but I hold my hand up to stop her.
"I need to talk to you," I said. She pressed her lips together. I looked at Carlene and Sherry.
"Can y'all give us some privacy?" I asked. Sherry nodded and Carlene looked at me like she knew what I was going to do. I nodded and she walked down the hall following Sherry. I sighed and turned to Astrid.
"What do you want to talk about?" She asked.
"Astrid at the island I changed. The island changed me. The people changed me. Carlene changed me. I am just gonna go out and say it because from what I seen I'm not really scared of telling you how I really feel. I am in love with Carlene," I said. She looked at me. In her eyes I saw she was hurt. It's for the best. I would make us both miserable if we stayed together.
"I see," she mumbled.
"Yeah," I said slowly. I watched as her eyes morphed into sadness and then anger.
"So you're in love with that bitch," she muttered. I reacted fast. I gripped Astrid's neck and choked her.
"You do not call Carlene anything. You hear me? You hurt her. You do anything to her I swear I will kill you."
"O-okay just l-let me g-go," she struggled to say. I let her go and she ran down the hallway. I narrowed my eyes. I just made another enemy.
sorry i know it's short
