Billy moved aside a book that was lying on the floor. The basement of the Acachalla house was barren. Billy, bored out of his mind, was wandering aimlessly around the house. Papa was asleep on the couch, and Gertrude was attempting to cook some dinner. (And was failing)
Sally was to visit on the 21st, and Billy was pacing the house waiting to see her. Sally was the only person he liked to hang out with, despite her being six years younger. Billy returned upstairs and brushed his hair a bit before he sat down to watch TV. He avoided the news channel, as he already knew what he would see on there: murders, murders, and more murders. This killer was killing more and more often, dropping at least a body a day. Anchors were calling him a walking bomb, as he was that efficient in killing people. Yet despite the fact that he had been killing for four months now, police had no clue about the killer's identity. All they could tell was that the killer was likely male and above 5'8.
Billy stretched his arms and yawned, as Gertrude brought him a drink. "Having a good day?" She asked kindly. "It's decent." Billy replied halfheartedly. "Oh don't you worry, you'll get to see your sister soon." Gertrude replied, patting Billy on the shoulder. "I don't even get to see one of my sisters. I haven't seen her in two years. And my other sister, well, she's too busy to see me." Gertrude tucked a hair behind her ear before smiling. "You'll see Sally soon. Don't you worry." Billy nodded and drank, and Gertrude left the room.
Billy took to studying his medical studies book, one that he had found in the dumpster behind a library. He read it for long hours, sometimes even late into the night. Papa, of course, had no idea Billy was studying when he was in his room; Billy kept it a secret.
As Billy heard footsteps coming upstairs, he tucked his book under his pillows. The door opened to reveal Gertrude, who had a plate of food in her hands. "I made you food."
"Oh, thank you." Billy spoke, handing out his hands to take the plate. Gertrude nodded, walking out into the hall. She closed the door, and Billy soon took his book out again. As he studied, it got darker and darker out. And finally, as darkness cloaked the town, the monster came out.
