There are some mornings so dark you wonder why the sun would dare come out at all. The same happens with handing your heart to someone. The world's dark and so are we.
We mirror our surroundings.
Our surroundings mirror us.
In the eyes of the one you love you see yourself unarmored, unarmed, left to the mercies of the other person.Sometimes your heart lurches for no reason at all. That subtle drop of anxiety or insecurity, reminding you that time and chance happen to us all. That your love sits unshielded from both those foes. Worse yet, free will stands an ever present possibility to encroach on it. To suggest it's as simple as loving is to close your eyes in a storm.
And so you just love, you hold on. Because you know no other way. Even if you did, would you take it?
