The tree-line scared my the most. What was behind it? Dark pine trees surrounded the entire town.
"Do not go beyond on the trees!" Everyone would warn me. Why me?
"You need to stop focusing on that. Get your work done" Mrs. B, said interrupting my thoughts. She gave me a stern look.
"Do you know what is beyond the tree-line?" I asked her, without thinking. I covered my mouth, with my hand. We were not supposed to ask about what was beyond the wall, keeping us from the trees.
"I may need to speak to your father" she said. Mrs. B was our neighbour. I looked down, in disappointment at myself.
I walked into my small house, covered in dirt. My father was sitting at our wooden table.
"Where have you heard about the trees?" My father asked. He was angry, I could tell by his strict voice.
"It was- was Sage" I said, knowing how angry she would be at me. My father did not say another word to me, he just walked out of the house.
I walked into my room, and sat down on the bed. Everything was so beautiful, especially the trees. They tempted me more than anything before.
Sage was my only friend and I had betrayed her. She said that she had found an old radio. She said that someone communicated with her. They said that they had things, I had only had read about in books. Safe told me to never tell anyone about her findings. She knew what would happen to her. I knew what would happen to her.
