Chapter 2

We all arrived at my house in around ten minutes. It was a tradition since eighth grade, that every friday after school and watch 3 movies. One would be scary, one would be comedy, and one would be action. It was loads of fun.

Ben and I were in the kitchen, making snacks, while Abi and Jake went upstairs to select movies. As soon as we were in the kitchen, Ben turned towards me and asked," Nat, can I ask you something? I need you to be completelu honest." His golden eyes bored into mine, making my voice dissapear. I nodded, unable to speak. "Nat, why were you so interested in why Jessy and I broke up. No lying allowed." he said. I stared past him, unable to even glimpse at his eyes, knowing that if I do I would babble things that weren't true." Ben, you're one of my best guy friends. Heck, you're one of my best friends. And you seemed upset. I know you really liked her, but you took it so easily. And that shouldn't be so simple. So I wanted to make sure you were okay." I said, purposely avoiding his eyes. "Nat..." he said, before being interupted by Jake yelling," I'm hungry, would you two quit doing only-god-knows-what and bring up food." We both jumped at the sound of another voice, and awkwardly looked away from each other. Wait.... Awkwardly? Nothing was ever awkward between us, ever! Thats one of the many things I loved about him. We could talk about a-z and have a non-awkward conversation. I glanced at him, to see him looking irritated. His hair was in his eyes, he lookrd absolutely adorable. I grabbed a six-pack of Dr.pepper and 2 bags of chips, and left the kitchen and ran upstairs. As i approached the media room, i heard no conversation. Absolutely nothing, not even a whisper. Uh-oh. I silently opened the door, hoping not to interupt anything. I saw Jake and Abi, sitting side-by-side with identical expressions which showed one thing. Nothing. I sighed as I came in the room, and shut the door. I sat down in the bean bag besides Abi, and looked away to avoid their stares. But I could still notice them." What happened down there?" Abi asked sweetly. But I could tell by her tone she knew exactly what happened." Abi, I need your help," I said in desperation."Ummm... I'll sleepover tonight," Abi said, completely confused." Thank you! We'll have a good time." I said knowingly. "Ok cool!" she said, obviously understanding. I heard footsteps on the stairs, and quickly changed the conversation to the movies. Ben slowly walked in, then sat in the chair, obviously not wanting to talk to me. I sighed, once again in confusion. What happened, and why did it have to cause a fight??

Ben P.O.V.

Ugh! Why did this happen? Can I not just be quiet? Nope, I can't. I can't keep my big fat mouth shut. God, I got an issue. As soon as Jake interupted, I decided to keep my thoughts to myself. By Jake's voice, I could tell he had been listening. Shit, right when I was about to make a big move, Jake interupted. He knew I shouldn't have even bothered, but it was killing me. She seemed so..... Concerned about Jessy and me. Like she felt the same way about me that I did about her.

For one second, I thought that she might be in love with me, in the same way I was in love with her.
