Later that evening Callum came to my house and I explained everything to him. He told me he had heard stories of them, and they were evil men. They didn’t free men from jail and let them go; instead they took their souls and turned them into slaves of Natas. My decision was becoming a lot easier. I mean my mother barely complains about life anymore, and what she doesn’t know won’t hurt her.

In the morning I carried on with my day as usual. I didn’t speak to anyone apart from Callum about it. At school I seemed to get a lot more respect from my classmates. Although none of them would show it in front of Agatha or her crew. When the final bell rang I left the building and awaiting me in the playground was the four horsemen dressed in their black, hooded robes. I approached them with Callum and Logan by my sides. “Have you made your decision my dear?” he asked as he took off his hood and shook his long brown hair.

“Yes” I retorted.

“Well?” he said. “Will you become the fifth horseman?” I looked at Callum and he nodded at me. I looked at the man and shook my head.

“I’m sorry sir, but I’m going to have to refuse your offer” I said. He looked at me in amazement before getting off his horse. He walked up to me and placed his hand on my shoulder.

“Do not be a fool my dear. Think of how powerful you could be” he insisted. He wrapped his arm around me and began guiding me to his horse. “Get on, do not be afraid” he whispered. As if I had no control over my actions, I began to get on the horse.

“Take your hands off her!” snapped Callum. He began to secretly charge up a water ball behind his back.

“Or else what?” challenged the man.

“Or else this!” cried Callum. He swiftly drew the water ball from behind his back and darted it at the man. As if it were a pebble, the man moved his head and dodged the ball.  Suddenly an arrow struck Callum in the shoulder and he fell to the ground. I looked to my right and the mermaid man was holding a bow.

“Callum!” I cried. I leaped off the horse and knelt down beside Callum. Logan began to charge up a fire ball but before he could the witch knocked him onto his back with an air strike.

“You are a fool Terra Munroe… and you will regret this day.” He said. The four men rode off into the hills without looking back. The groans of Callum drew my attention.

“This is going to hurt” I said as a pulled the arrow out of his shoulder, “Give me your shirt Logan!” I demanded. Logan pulled off his shirt and handed it to me; I wrapped it around Callum’s wound and pulled helped him up to his feet.

“Good job snowflake” he said.

“Yeah. Good job sis” laughed Logan.

“Thanks, but you should really get that wound checked out by the nurse” I said.

“Oh don’t be silly, It’s only an arrow wound” he replied, trying to give off the impression that he was some sort of tough guy. I looked at him with a raised eyebrow. “Even if I do go, the nurse is probably already gone home. Plus, my mother is a nurse, remember?”

I threw my hands up in the air, “Fine, have it your way” I said. He smiled at me and the sun suddenly broke out from the clouds.

“Seems like Naila was happy about your decision” Logan said.

I laughed, “I guess she is.” The three of us walked home together.
