Separation of Best Friends

This world is vaguely strange.
Contradicting words and actions make my heart cringe.
"We're your true friends", they claim,
At the back of their minds perhaps some other aim.
Sitting amongst a crowd of people,
I can't figure out why I feel so lonely...
Friendships mingled with jealousy
Make me sick of all this illusory.
YOU, the only one who's always supported me,
Brought out the best in me,
Put in time and effort for me,
I value you with all my heart, sweetie.
I was the one after whom you chased,
I'm glad I turned around and locked you in embrace.
For if I hadn't I'd have lost
A real treasure that can't be expressed in terms of cost.
In my darkest times,
I picture you by my side.
We may be miles apart,
But immensely close at heart.
Oh, how I desire to talk to you everyday,
And when I do, I can indubitably say-
Like a warm blanket on a bitter winter night,
Your words make everything fall back right.
It's impossible to imagine even in my wildest dreams
Of ever losing you, it seems.
Our friendship has endured the test of time,
Of distance and of changing climes.
However far from each other we may go,
Our bond will never perish, that I know.
Friends enter our lives and leave.
Some stay for years, some months and some for weeks.
But YOU, I'm certain, will accompany me till death
Together we'll take our last breath.
Something-over the time-that I've found,
True friendship needs no common ground.
It just needs time, effort and persistence
-Those are the secret ingredients
To a long-lasting bond.
And love? It is the magic wand!
