REWRITTEN

Standing there completely frozen like a statue, tons of thoughts went through my puzzled mind. What should I do? Will I be able to protect Deahyung? What does he want from me? Why me?

I silently hoped all of this was just a stupid nightmare but how hard I even tried to convince myself, I couldn't. I couldn't just disregard reality and I needed to do something. Fast.

The first thing that shot into my mind was calling the police so, I hurried to the dining room where I had left my phone on the dinner table. I panicked when I couldn't find the rectangular device and pondered where it possibly could be but nothing came to my mind.

The house was not safe so, sneaking out to the neighbor's house seemed to me like a rational idea but unfortunately, when I headed with the child to the front and backdoor, both the front and back doors were locked.

The moment I wanted to go back to the living room area, the power went off and I had no idea where the power switch was so, in other words, I had no clue what to do since there was no way out and no possible device for communicating.

The last thing I could do was protect the child along with of course myself. Staying here in the living room was a too easy spot for the invader to find me so, the only option left was upstairs.

"Noona? Why are the lights off?" Daehyung voice echoed through the living room area as he was clutching tightly to my legs and buried his face in my belly.

"W-we are just going to play a game, okay?" I patted his head. "So, we need to hide from that friend of yours and if he doesn't find us we will win the game. You want to win, right?" My vocals trembled as I tried not to convince only the boy but also myself that this wasn't a big deal even though it really wasn't. A panic attack would be the worst thing for me to happen in a situation like this, especially with a child who has no clue what is going on.

"Okay, noona. Where are we going to hide?"

"Upstairs, honey but don't make any noise or we'll lose the game." Carefully navigating myself upstairs and trying not to make any creaking sound on the stairs, I held his tiny, fragile form against mine as if he was my own child. With the little moonlight that came through the gap between the curtain, I was able to maneuver to without any issues to his room and cautiously opened the closet to settle him inside the wooden object.

"Listen to me, honey. Whatever you hear stay here." He nodded. "Promise me." I removed a few hair strands from his forehead and quickly pecked him.

"I promise, noona."

With the little courage left inside of my already petrified state, I forced myself to find some sort of weapon or object for my self-defense in case things would get out of hand which I totally wasn't prepared for but you never know...

The most rational object for the defense was either something sharp so, I decided to leave his room, get a knife as fast as possible and be back. That will work, right? Taking a deep breath to calm myself from having a panic attack leaning against the door, I then twisted my body and quietly opened the door. Slowly making my way toward the stairs, I regularly checked my surrounding for my own safety. When I was about to take a step on the stairs, I heard some shuffling from downstairs and soon some creaking sounds of the stairs. Panicking I looked around to find a hiding spot and my mind decided without any consciousness of my body to enter the first door near mine. Upon shutting the door behind me, I realized I was in Taehyung's room because his smell was stuck in the atmosphere of the area.
