Daniel was so angry at his friends right now, he's given up the best friendship he's ever had just to be worthy of their attention. And yes, he didn't have to do what they asked all the time. But when you're popular, you'll do anything to keep the status. Daniel knew that, but he never thought he'd find someone like Joey. Someone who makes him see that being popular isn't the only important thing, and that popularity doesn't make you feel validated. Especially if you have to give up people or things that make you happy. Having to give up Joey was devastating to Daniel. But no one knew he was gay before the coffee incident. Although, his parents still don't know.

"So Daniel, why did you want to meet out here?" Daniel smirked, cracking his knuckles behind his back. "I just wanted to talk to you guys, about a boy named Joey." His friends rolled their eyes, sick of hearing about the mute boy. "What now? You've let him go, he hates you now. Get over it." Daniel was getting angrier "listen, guys, tomorrow I want you to go up to Joey and tell him the truth." "Oh yeah, and why would we do that?" Stepping toward them, Daniel swings his fist and punches the leader in the face. Everyone else was frozen in shock, allowing Daniel to punch them. Standing above the group, Daniel growls "tomorrow you're going to do what?" "Apologize to Joey, tell him the truth." Smirking, Daniel nods. The only reason why the group cowered is that the group has a no violence policy, none of the men wanting to initiate any harm. So having Daniel hit them, it scared them. The power had shifted. Daniel left the group laying on the ground with tears streaming down their faces, tomorrow better be good.

Waiting for the group, Daniel stood at his locker, eyes locked on the back of Joey's head. "Do we have to?" One of his friends whined, Daniel looked at them with a glare. Their eyes widened and they whimpered "sorry. We'll go" the group walked to Joey, Daniel following behind. The group surrounded Joey, Daniel tapped his shoulder. "Joey..." the boy turns around, eyes narrowing. "We came to apologize" Daniel's friend Jared started. "We've been so mean to you. We were the ones to force Daniel to hurt you, he really likes you. I know he told you he was trying to fight back his feelings of affection, not hatred. Daniel's gay and he really wants to be friends with you, and we were being homophobic and unaccepting." Daniel steps up "Joey, even though I've hurt you more times than they have. I really want to be friends with you. No ulterior motives, no secrets. So, what do you say?"

Joey was surprised, not expecting Daniel and his group of populars to apologize. He looked at Daniel, typing on his phone "I'll get back to you at the end of the day. Thank you for apologizing, I need to think this through." Daniel nodded, pushing his friends back. Joey watched them go, noticing Daniel's eyes filling with tears. He really meant that apology. "So what now?" Jared asked and Daniel turned to them "now you can leave me alone. I don't want to associate with you, be associated with you. Joey is probably not going to take me back because he thinks that I'd choose sides with you guys over him. I don't want that. I don't want to be friends with you guys anymore. Good damn bye." Daniel turned on his heel, storming off down the hall.

Joey watched as Daniel stormed off from his group, hearing everything Daniel had said. He chased after Daniel, grabbing onto his arm. When Daniel turned around, Joey did something unexpected. He kissed Daniel. Pulling away, Daniel smiled "wow." Joey smiles, leaning back in for another kiss.

When Daniel got home, he entered into silence. "Mother? Father?" "In here Daniel!" Walking into his parents' study, Daniel took a deep breath. "I have something to tell you two" his parents stop typing, turning around in their swivel chairs. "Yes?" Daniel could feel the anxiety building in his stomach, he took three deep breaths before he spoke. "I'm gay."
