Chapter 1: Ray of Sunshine
The morning sun reflected off of the tiny crystal-like shards of several smashed beer bottles.
I was curled up in a fetal position on the kitchen floor, rocking back and forth. My hoarse voice repeatedly mumbled "It's gonna be all right. It's gonna be all right." My face was buried in my hands; a loud sobbing noise coming from my mouth. A stream of tears slowly ran down my face.
I knew it wasn't going to be all right, I needed help.
Tomorrow, I would be safe. No more, I wouldn't let fear hang over me like some executioner's blade, just waiting to drop and end my miserable life. In spite, of this horrible situation I had caught myself in, I couldn't help but see the silver lining.
Around a month ago, I had applied to one of the most prestigious schools in the country; Fiore High Magic Academy. Many mages sent in videos of themselves performing spells, hoping that their talent would be acknowledged. Though very few received the invitation required to attend the academy. After all the tedious work of recording myself, I, Lucy Heartifilia Dreyer, had finally gotten accepted. I was going to be a student at Fiore High Magic Academy! When your grandfather just happens to be the principal of Fiore High Magic Academy you do have some advantages.
I wouldn't have to be subjected to this torture, being homeschooled. I could break free from this cage and finally stretch my wings, unlocking my full potential.
I reached my arms out to the side, flapping them up and down. I was flying.
I let out a shriek and brought my right arm into my chest. My tears resurfaced once again. Ow! My arm hurt so much. Through teary eyes, I managed to see a gash stretching from my forearm to my hand with a large piece of glass imbedded in it. It felt like someone slathered my arm with hot glue. I just wanted the pain to cease.
I sniffled and gazed out of my kitchen window. The morning sun was spilling its canvas of colors over the horizon. The sun always brightened up my day, literally. It's rays of light reminding me a new day was approaching. I wouldn't be in the dark, where my monsters hide, anymore. That is until night falls once again. But lately my monsters would haunt me during the daylight. It got harder and harder to escape them.
I mustered up my last bit of strength, and pulled myself off of the ground. I slowly walked through the kitchen, shards of glass cracking under my feet. I pulled myself up the stairs, grimacing every time I took a step. I entered the bathroom and cleaned up my wounds.
The sun wouldn't always be there to save me. I needed to find someone or something to keep my monsters away. I had high hopes that Fiore High Magic Academy would be my new shinning light.
Will I find my ray of sunshine in Fiore High?

I'm not content with how this turned out. So I probably constantly be editing this but, oh well.
Hope you all like the first glimpse of this story. I wanted to make a new chapter one so I could introduce Lucy. I also wish it will hook more readers.
Anyways for all of the other people who have read the original first chapter I advise you to read this!
Thank you! Vote and comment!
