Chapter 5: Taking the Bullet

Previously:

Eventually the gas disappeared altogether to reveal a young women with shoulder length magenta hair sporting a maid's outfit.

Virgo was my ticket to giving Sting a good impression of me. You better be watching, Sting!

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Chains dangled from her wrists reminding me of the foreboding question. She looked at me expectantly, the question was coming. "Punishment time?" The maid stared blankly at me, awaiting my response. I squeezed my eyes shut, desperate to contain my annoyance.

I shouted at the celestial spirit "No! Would you quit it with that question? Dig a hole and get Sting on this side of the fence, quick Virgo." I couldn't help it. The frustration was clear in my voice.

I loved my spirits, they were my dear friends. But I got tired of being weak; of depending too much on them. I wanted to grow strong and show someone, particularly Sting, that I was worth paying attention too. I was set on becoming the greatest Celestial Mage in Fiore High!

Virgo was momentarily frozen in place. She clearly wasn't expecting me to snap at her like that. After comprehending what I said, she disappeared under the solid concrete. The only reminder that I had summoned Virgo was a tremendous hole cut deep into the earth. If only I was as strong as Virgo...

I waited patiently, lightly tapping my foot on the ground. Suddenly skipping class, didn't seem as tempting as before. I didn't really want to do this anymore, I had somehow come back to my senses, my conscience was calling me back to reality. I dully stared at the concrete, while my thoughts trailed off.

I really didn't wanna let Sting down; he seemed like a really nice guy, well except for the cussing. Maybe I was just worrying too much, like always. I have to stop being so distressed, it's turning into a bad habit. I'd never make or keep any friends that way.

If I couldn't keep one friend than how was I supposed to go through high school? Become a loner? It wasn't like I was popular or anything, but like most teenagers, I had friends. No scratch that, I needed friends. Without them my life would be a total wreak. There was no way I could tell Sting I wanted to return to the cluster of classrooms and find the class I should be attending. He would think I was a total killjoy.

The obnoxious sound of Virgo's hand cuffs rapidly smashing into each quickly became louder and louder. I had totally forgotten about her! Dirt spewed out from the vast hole, covering me from head to toe. I pressed my arms to my chest hoping that somehow it would lessen the amount of dirt that land on my clothes, ruining them.

Apparently, I was a little too focused on the wellbeing of my clothes to notice a flying Sting heading straight towards me. I squeezed my eyes shut just waiting for the impact. His body collided with mine as my feet slipped from underneath me. If only it had been a grass tennis court instead of a cement one because man, did my head hurt. A light sheet of mist covered me, Virgo had closed her gate and was no longer here. She probably fled; afraid I would start yelling at her.

I slowed opened my eyes. Sting was laying on top of me his face inches away from mine. I restrained the urge to shiver as I felt his warm breath against my face. Suddenly I couldn't get enough; his breath smelt so good. The pungent smell of vanilla lingered in the air. All I wanted to do was bury my face into his shirt and inhale the wondrous scent. I swear it was like some kinda drug and I was hooked on it.

His lips thinned into a smirk. "You know, we're in a really sexual position right now?" I gave him an incredulous look, my eyes probably as wide as saucers. I found myself, for the second time this day, madly blushing.
