Chapter 7: You Don't Know Me
Previously:
I slid open the door. What I saw next was not in the least bit what I had expected. This school was the farthest thing from normal.
But that's just how I liked it.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
The classroom was abuzz, the desks tipped over and pushed aside. Spit balls sailed across the room, bombarding the poor old teacher who was scrambling to organize his students.
I couldn't quite put my finger on it but, he seemed familiar.
A massive amount of magic energy being summoned from the back of the room caught my attention. Two men, one with a red aura and the other with a blue aura, pushing their foreheads together exchanged menacing glares at one another. Were they going to start a fight in class?
A tall redhead women clad in steel plate armor stomped over to the men. In one rapid motion, she grabbed their ears, causing them to yelp in pain. "What the hell do you two think you're doing, interrupting me while I was peacefully eating my strawberry cake?" I grimaced as her voice pierced my ears. The redhead unclenched her fists, letting the men drop to the floor. Did she seriously beat them up over a strawberry cake? I made a mental note to not get on her bad side. Dusting her hands off, the lady glanced towards the doorway, looking straight at me. She froze, beads of sweat dripping down her brow, the rest of her body a stone statue. Her lips twitched upwards, she was clearly in an awkward situation.
I took a few steps into the classroom, establishing a bigger presence among this chaos, a few heads turning towards me. I shyly whispered. "Do you, by any chance, know where my seat is?" With those few words, the lady-knight immediately snapped back into focus, forgetting I had just witnessed her beat up two boys.
"Yes, follow me. My name is Erza Scarlet, Student Council President." We weaved through the clutter of desks until we reached a seat near the window.
"Here. This is your seat." I smiled, grateful for Erza's help.
"Thanks for e-". I stopped mid-sentence as a petite blue haired mage dove towards me and threw her arms around me while her petite fingers interlocked.
"Lu-chan! I missed you! I didn't think you were coming to school today." I threw my hands up in surprise. When I realized it was only Levy, I pried the solid script mage's fingers from around my waist. She collapsed onto the floor, scrambling to get leverage from the desk so she could pull herself to her feet.
"Oh." I scratched the back of my head. Levy had probably been very concerned of my whereabouts but, I didn't want her to sweat over it.
"I just had some things I needed to take care of. No need to worry, I'm fine now. Here . . ." I leaned over to straighten out Levy's glasses that had gotten disheveled when she fell.
"There, all better." I put my hands on my hips, examining my work. Bright red glasses sat on the bridge of her noise, contrasting her bright azure hair. Levy wasn't the most graceful but, that made her all the cuter.
A stern voice interrupted our conversation, "You two know each other?" The question originated from the Student Council President.
Before I had any time to respond, Levy slung her arm around my shoulder. "Yep! This is Lucy, my best friend, or as I like to call her, Lu-chan!" Levy was beyond elated, I could see her head sway to a tune playing in her head.
Erza nodded "I see. It's nice to make your aquatince. I hope you'll have a great school year." She turned away and sat down in the desk beside me. She reached into her backpack to pull out a slice of strawberry cake. Gently placing the cake on her desk, Erza started inhaling the baked good.
