Chapter 2: Fiore High Magic Academy

Will I find my ray of sunshine in Fiore High?

The crisp morning air flooded through my bedroom window prodding at me to get out of bed. I snuggled closer to my pillow, even though I had been looking forward to this day for years. I just needed one more minute of sleep..
A loud voice cut the comforting silence "Sis! Get your ass down here! You don't want to be late for your first day in Fiore High!"
My eyes popped open. The baby pink walls I always woke up too greeted me once again. I threw the sheets off myself and slid off my warm bed to be greeted by a reflection in the mirror. My blonde hair was plastered to my face and my eyes drooped open, it's hazel orbs looking lifeless. I made my way towards my bathroom to begin the tortuous routine of preparing for school.
I slathered some toothpaste on to my toothbrush, back and forth, back and forth. The bristles gently caressed my teeth. I arched my back. The same old tedious motion each morning. It never faulted. Was my life just the same old boring cycle? l shook that thought out of my head. Today was going to be different!
Abandoning the wet toothbrush on the bathroom counter, I shuffled to my dresser. Humming to myself softly, I randomly picked the outfit that would decide the impression I made on my professors. I threw on a slim strapless crop top with a blue heart in the center. Sheilding the gash on my arm I slid a frilly sweatshirt. Crowning it off I buckled my celestial keys onto my white belt.
I stood back and glanced at the mirror, posing while admiring my well matched outfit. I sauntered down the stairs a gleaming smile stretching across my face. I'm so excited! I greeted my brother with a pat on the back.
He grumbled looking annoyed with my cheery mood, "What took you so long? I was ready ten minutes ago." His eyes trailed me as I grabbed two slices of bread and headed out the front door.
"Don't be so gloomy, Laxus you'll ruin my mood!" I pouted, slamming open the car door, oh yeah! I was riding shotgun!
I propped my head up with my hand, the other one busily tapping on the window. Ugh, Laxus was one to talk. He was the one taking too long! I had already finished my bread and Laxus still wasn't here, yet. Before I knew it he rounded the corner and slid into the driver's seat. The engine revved, I wiggled in my seat, a squeal of joy emitted from my mouth.
Laxus stared at me amusingly a smirk dancing on his lips "Relax, Lucy. Fiore High is just another Magic Academy, no different from all the others. Well, except for the fact that I go to school there, and you know how sexy I am." I couldn't help but laugh at his comment. I weakly punched him in the shoulder, recovering from the terrible joke.
The car's tires squeaked as we pulled our of the drive way, something was missing. There was a feeling in my gut. I couldn't escape it. Dang, what was I missing? I attempted to ignore the feeling but, it wouldn't go away. My head swiveled towards my house, the white chipping paint allowing it to blend in with all the other cookie cutter houses on the block. Maybe, what's missing is the old me. I won't be just some nerdy, anime-obsessed geek that always has her face in a book. I'm going to make myself known as the greatest Celestial Mage in Fiore High!
The house disappeared into the distance as I faced forward, watching the road ahead of me. The eery silence remained the whole car ride, leaving me alone with my wandering thoughts. I was eager to break the quietness but, I resisted the urge. Being alone with my thoughts was serene and it was a rare opportunity.
Before digging deeper into my mind, the car jolted to a stop. We were at Fiore High already. I grinned at Laxus giving him a brief hug. We both got out of the car, shutting the doors. I waved my farewells to him.
The prestigious school towered above me. The Castle-like building's decorative statues stared menacingly down at me. They were daring me do something rebellious under their watchful eye. I stuck my tongue out at the stone pieces of art. Who would make such a dumb piece of art like that? I reached for the sturdy brass door when I screamed. I knew what I was missing!
"My backpack!" I shrieked. How could I forget my back back on the first day of highschool!?!?!
