The Undead

The day the undead rose

I had just arrived home after work, I worked as a night guard for a bank, I had to go through training nobody really believed I had a chance of making it through they thought I would give me up due to my figure and me being a girl. But I made it anyways I set my keys on the dinner table and yawned. "Hey, I'm home," I yelled out trying to get my friend, her name's Mar, attention I work pretty late but they are usually awake all the lights were off for some reason. "Why are all the lights off?" I went to go turn on a switch, the lights came on. "There we go some light. Hey, where are you?" I yelled to my friend trying to get her attention, I just shrugged assuming she had fallen asleep.

I set my extendable baton on the table and yawned. I was pretty tired and hungry I went to the fridge and grabbed an apple I then looked to the living room and saw my friend. "Hey why didn't you respond when I was calling out?" I said as I munched on my apple. "Hey, you listening to me?" I walked up to her and shook her shoulder.

She woke up quickly "Huh what'd you say?" She had a tired tone in her voice.

"Man you must've been really tired," I laughed. "I thought something was wrong."

"No no I was just asleep I didn't sleep last night did you see the news? They're talking about a new mushroom they've never seen. I'm kinda scared you know you think something bad is gonna happen?" She asked obvious terrified.

"No nothings wrong everybody always thinks of the worst it might just be some new mushroom and won't do nothing it'll probably be used as a cure for something," I said with a smile on my face trying to cheer her up. "Don't worry Mar everything will be fine!" She straightened her long black hair even though it was already straight she does it when she's nervous.

"Maybe you're right yeah It'll probably be good," she said a nervous smile on her face trying to seem cheered up.

"There you go now then let's turn on the TV," I grabbed the remote that was next to her I didn't know what channel it was on and speak of the devil it was on the news. "You have to be joking," I said kinda fed up. I was about to change it before Mar said.

"No wait keep it here!" She took the remote out of my hand. I playfully pouted and sat down next to her we both watched the new.

"A new report for the unidentified mushroom. We have reported that it is able to reanimate the dead nothing yet has been reported," I took the remote out of her hand and changed it.

"We don't need to watch that before we go to sleep okay? You'll get nightmares and I know you will," I say teasing her a bit.

"But reanimating the dead it's like those games we play first it'll start off as nothing then it'll go to hell quickly and everyone dies!" She was breathing heavily.

"Woah woah okay calm down now nothing bad is going to happen okay you're just over reacting breath in and breath out," I told her she started doing it and after a while she calmed down and started breathing normally.

"Okay okay I'm calm I'm calm everything fine everything's going to be fine nothing bad is going to happen," she smiled. "Want to play a game? I need to get my mind off it."

"If you're ready to lose," I said smiling and playfully pushed her.

"You wish I was going to lose!" She playfully shoved me back. We played for a few hours until we both got tired eventually we went into the room to sleep she slept in a bed in the same room because she has problems sleeping in a room by herself.

"Cameron you still up?" She asked me while we were trying to sleep.

"Yeah what's up?" I asked obviously tired.

"Do you uh mind if we sleep together like not do anything weird but you know just sleep in the same bed cause I'm kinda scared from the news you know?" She asked kinda nervous.
