Chapter 8

I slowly started to wake myself up I could hear voices in a different part of a building? Maybe a house or a store not sure yet. "Listen I didn't mean to knock her out I thought she was a zombie about to munch on the little girl," a male voice said.

"I don't care if it was an accident you might've made that kid an orphan what if she got seriously hurt?!" I slowly started getting up as the other male voice said that. 'Where the hell is Alex?' I asked myself looking around from where I was sitting. "Just go check back up on the little girl I'll go check on the other one," I heard footsteps walking away. "Crazy kid," footsteps started heading my way. "Good you're awake now then what's your name?" He stood near the doorway looking at me his arms folded.

"Doesn't matter where's Alex?" I stood up asking the man a bit afraid for her.

"The little girl she's in a different room we thought you were gonna turn so we separated you. She kicked and hollered for sure but she calmed down eventually," he laughed.

"Great now take me to her now," he smiled and nodded. He walked off and I followed him.

"Anthony! Guess who woke up!" He yelled out in the building.

"Guess who's still quiet and won't say anything!" Anthony said as he walked into the room. "Nice to meet you miss I'm Anthony," he held his hand out to shake.

"Nice to meet you too now take me to Alex," he scratched his neck.

"Right okay well she's in that room," he pointed to the room he just came from.

"If you did anything to her I'll make sure that you'll get what you deserve," I ran to the room that he pointed at. "Alex?! Where are you?!" I asked into the room looking frantically when somebody rushes into me wrapping their arms around me.

"Cameron I was so worried I'm glad your okay I never want to get separated from you again," she said it quickly and I smiled patting her head.

"Don't worry it's never gonna happen again I'll make sure of it now then you know anything about the other two?" She looked up at me and shook her head no I could tell she had been crying. "That's alright come on we gotta go," she nodded and wiped her eyes as a few tears showed up and followed behind me.

"They seem like nice men they offered me food and water," I smiled.

"That's good I hope you said thank you," she nodded as we got into the room with Anthony and the other man.

"Great you two are reunited now. Neither of you are have been infected right?" I nodded watching their movement. "Great cause the group made us watch you gu-," someone barged through the door cutting off his sentence.

"Bill! The girl she's missing! Nobody noticed until we started doing a headcount!" He smiled and pointed at Alex she waved hello at the lady. "Thank god she's okay if anything she's safer here then out there," she finally looked at me and smiled. "You must be her mother I'm Jill," she held her hand out for me to shake it.

"I'm Cameron she's Alex," I shook her hand smiling.

"Well then nice to meet you two," she looked at Bill and Anthony. "Come on we need to finish checking rooms and marking any with too many infected inside," she walked out of the room and they followed.

"We don't have to help do we cause those guys are kinda scary," I shook my head no.

"I don't think so seems like the trusted ones get the big jobs. Come on we gotta check the rest of the place out," she nodded and grabbed my hand. We walked into the main part of the store I guess we were in a back area there were kitchen appliances, shelves full of ingredients, and a freezer near us when we walked out.
