Surprise

"Y/n. Y/n, wake up". The girl being told to wake up felt several pokes on her arm. "Y/n?". Realising whoever was prodding her wasn't going to stop anytime soon, she mumbled, "leave me alone" and rolled over. There was a chuckle, followed by another "Y/n, seriously, wake up". Sighing heavily, she rolled back onto her side and opened her eyes. "Robin?".

"Come on y/n, we have to go".

"Go?". Her mind refused to process this properly. "Go?" she repeated. "Go where, it's the middle of the night!". Sitting up, she saw Robin clearly. He was stood by her bed, dressed in his day clothes of leather and his hat. Wait, her room. "How did you get in my room, Robin? What do you want?".

"Loveday told me about how she used to get in to your room. And you still need to get up. We have to go now if we're going to get there in time".

"Get where?".

"Surprise. Come on, get dressed".

Finally dressed and having successfully snuck out via the passageway from her bedroom,        Y/n and Robin were walking through the forest. It was almost pitch black, with the giant trees blocking out most of the moonlight overhead. "Please tell me where we're going".

"If I did, it really wouldn't be a surprise anymore, would it?". The famous grin was in place. Y/n just rolled her eyes, not awake enough yet to argue with him. They walked for a little while before Robin stopped. They were in a small clearing which was tree free. "Okay, we're here". Y/n looked around. It basically looked like the rest of the forest with fewer trees. "Are you sure?" she asked, still looking around. She thought she heard a mumbled "no faith" and sarcastic "am I sure" followed by a snort. Turning to Robin, she watched him go to the middle of the clearing and drop himself heavily on to the leaf covered floor. He looked at her and motioned with his head for her to join him. "Come and sit down". Whilst walking towards him, she asked, "and why are we sitting down?".

"Because I said so". Hearing that, she sat down on his right, much more gracefully than he'd thrown himself down. She turned to him and raised an eyebrow. "Because you said so?"

"Just look up Y/n". She did, and gasped. The lack of trees gave her a perfect view of the black sky above them, which was full of hundreds of bright stars. It was beautiful. She knew her mouth was hanging open slightly from looking straight up. Reluctantly looking away to be able to see Robin, she saw him facing the stars, and the look on his face clearly said he found them just as beautiful as she did. She felt she should say thank you, but she didn't want to disturb him. Instead, she reached over to his hand, grabbed it and squeezed gently. She saw him smile slightly, and felt him squeeze her hand back. He let her pull it away, and she looked back up at the amazing sight above her. Knowing she'd get a sore neck soon, she allowed her body to relax and fall back completely on the floor. Noticing, Robin did the same.

Y/n and Robin led together under the dark sky all night, their eyes never once leaving the stars. And when morning came and the stars could be seen no more, Robin took Y/n back to Moonacre Manor and her bedroom. Every cloudless night after that, they went back to the clearing and stared at the stars some more, and they never grew tired of its beauty, or each other.
