Chapter 1 - A Blast From the Past

The memories from last summer were haunting my dreams. Almost every night I had the same dream of the beautiful moment that I had with Luke, but it only reminded me of how badly he broke my heart a few short days after that night when he told me he loved me. I still cannot believe I actually thought he meant it. It was the summer after my sophmore year at DHS and I thought it was one I would never want to forget. Now, I so desperatly want to forget it, but I can't. Not with these dreams creating the flow of memories from the past summer disturb my mind.

Since then I haven't really been in any serious relationships. I've been on a few dates, but it always ends up with me breaking things off. I just can't trust guys anymore. Not only did I experience a bad break up, but I had to watch my parents go through a terrible divorce. My two sisters and I were all completely devistated, but I'd have to say that it hit me the most. To this day I still can't except that my parents are seeing other people and I don't talk to them nearly as much as I used to.

It was the last day of my junior year and all I wanted was for this summer to not turn out like last year's. No meeting hot boys, no summer romance, and no falling in love. I was determined to stay on my path of focusing on school, spending time at work to make money, and hanging out with friends, but since school will be over after today, I had to focus on work and hanging out with my best friends. They've always supported me, but I knew this summer it'd be hard to keep them away from the beaches, where they would most certainly flirt it up with some cute beach babes. No Chloe, don't think about it, you'll be fine this summer. Everything will work out. That's what I had been telling myself this past week since I knew that summer was catching up with me.

After laying in bed for a few minutes lost in thought, my alarm clock shook me out of it. I realized I only had a half hour to get ready so I threw on a flowy, flower top, light jean shorts, and white glatiator sandals. Walking over to my mirror I realized that my straight, blonde hair was pretty messy so I grabbed my brush and quickly fixed it. After I was satisfied with how I looked, I walked over to my bathroom, put on some eyeliner, mascara, and light pink eyeshadow to compliment my bright green eyes, and brushed my teeth. I made my way downstairs as I practically tripped over my golden-doodle, Charlie. "Charlie!" I exclaimed, "You're going to actually trip me one of this days!" Looking at my watch I realized that I needed to go now or I would be late for the last day of school. I grabbed my bag and headed out the door to my neon green jeep wrangler. Yes, I like to make a statement.

As I drove to school, my blonde hair blew back in the wind since the top to my jeep was off for the summer. I blasted some country music, my favorite, and was soon at school. I parked my car, got myself together, and stepped out into the warm weather. As I walked to the gym doors I hoped this summer would at least be okay.
