Chapter 2 - The Last Day

As I walked into school I was immediately pulled out of my thoughts by a bunch of hi's and hellos. I knew I was pretty well known like the rest of my friends, but it still dumb struck me almost every day how many people in my school actually did know me. I mean, I did play on both the varsity soccer and varsity basketball teams, and I met a lot of people through sports, but it was still shocking to me.

I quickly said hey back to everyone as I tried to make my way towards the girl's locker room where my friends and I meet every morning. As I turned a corner where I could now see the locker rooms, my friends immediately turned around and came running towards me. After exchanging hugs with each of the girls Brittany said, "Hey Chlo, why are you so late?" I noticed that she straightened her light brown wavy hair for the last day of school which she usually doesn't do. Her light even skin tone had noticably gotten tanner a well. She stood about three inches taller than me, the tallest of the girls, at 5'7. She also was wearing a light blue flowy, one-shoulder top which made her bright blue eyes pop and had on khaki shorts and simple white sneakers. I figured that she drifted away from her usual simple outfits of jean shorts or pants and a cute t-shirt so she would look nicer for the last day of school. "Sorry guys," I replied, "I woke up a little late and my mind was wandering this morning. By the way Britt you didn't have to get dressed up for the last day, you always look cute no matter what you where." "Eh, I just felt like I should look a little cuter since we are going shopping later!" She was always the one to like shopping because she loved looking at new shoes. I had known Brittany since we were two years old and we were probably closer than any of the other girls in our group.

I looked over at the rest of the girls and saw their worried faces about how I had said my mind was wandering this morning. They all knew about what had happened last summer and were there for me each step of the way. I told them about my reaccuring horrid dreams that brought up past memories and they all just let me cry it out. They never really knew what to say since none of them except Breanna had been truely in love. Breanna had a couple terrible break ups that left her heartbroken so when I was upset over Luke I usually went to her.

I gave them all a reassuring look as their faces returned to their usual perkiness that they should have on the last day of school. I looked over at Breanna who mouthed, "Are you sure?" And I nodded back. She was so sweet and was always there for any of the girls when they had boy problems or anything for that fact. She was a great listener just like Brittany and that's why Bre was probably the second closest one to me in the group. Like usual she looked as cute as ever. I was always a little jealous of her and Charlotte's outfits and how pretty they each were. Breanna had long dark brown hair that was as straight as mine, she had naturally tan skin, and she was about 5'2. Today she wore a flowery top with khaki shorts and cute flip flops. She had on simple make-up that made her brown eyes sparkle.

Charlotte on the other hand, had on a light pink tank top that complimented her fair skin tone and had on dark jean shorts, a cute feather necklace, and gold bangles around her wrist. She was good with accesories. She wore little make up but always looked cute anyways. She was about Breanna's height and they were the shortest of the group, but they didn't mind. Even if we made fun of them sometimes for it. Her light brown hair with slight red tints was a little wavy which means she probably put it in a braid last night because her hair is usually almost as straight as mine and Breanna's.

Jessica who's about my height, 5'4, came and stood next to me. "So guys what time are we going to go shopping?" she said. Her curly brown hair with lighter highlights was left natural and she wore a cute striped v-neck shirt with light jean ripped shorts. Like Brittany, Jessica had bright blue eyes and she always knew what kind of eye make up to put on to make them pop. She was slender and had fair skin. "Well I have to work until 5 today," I answered. "Then we will meet you after your shift is over," Charlotte chimed in. "Alright sounds good to me!" I exclaimed. "Kay girls, were gonna be late to first period on our last day if we don't hurry it up," Breanna said as the warning bell for first period interupted our conversation.

We all linked arms and casually walked down the hallway until one by one we each went off in seperate directions heading to our first period class. As I was walked to Drawing Skills I started thinking about summer again. Chloe, don't do this now, I thought to myself. Enjoy the last day of your junior ear. You only have one year left of high shcool after this.

After first period ended the day went by pretty fast. I had math and then biology which was mostly just hanging around the classroom talking to everyone. I had all my core classes with Jessica so I mostly hung out with her. After third period Biology, Jessica and I headed down to lunch.

We got to our usually table by the windows on the left and were surprisingly the first ones there. Brittany was usually the first one there, but today she wasn't. I figured she went to talk to her other friends from her classes and sure enough as she came walking up to the table she said, "Hey guys, sorry, I was just talking to some friends from my classes." "It's alright," Jess and I said in unision. We started giggling as Charlotte and Breanna walked up, each smiling from ear to ear. "What are you guys so happy about?" "You'll never guess who just asked Charlotte out!" Breanna said loudly as Charlotte elbowed her in the side. Breanna looked over and Charlotte gave her an annoyed look as I said, "It was Jason wasn't it." Charlotte immediately nodded excitedly as her and Breanna sat down. "Oh my god, he finally asked you?" Jess asked. "Yeah! I was walking with Bre down to lunch from D buidling and he came over and asked if I wanted to go out with him Friday!" Charlotte practically was jumping with joy. We all knew she had a crush on Jason since like freshman year and we had heard from several people that her liked her back, but we were just waiting for him to ask her out already. And he finally did! "This is insane," Brittany stated. "I know!" Charlotte basically screamed and then realized how loudly she had said it and her freckled face turned a bright shade of red.

We spent the rest of lunch talking about how the date would go, what Charlotte would wear, and how she should do her hair and make up. Since Friday was only two days away we decided that on Thursday night we would all sleep over Charlotte's house and prepare her for her date.

After lunch, we all went our seperate ways and the time ticked by slowly. After fifth period was over I had three periods left which each went by pretty fast. I had a party in english and talked about the summer work in history. Damn, I hated history and I hated getting summer work. Thank god it would be my last year getting stupid, useless summer work. I mean, yeah, It was a easy first gade, but there was seriously no point of assigning it except for ruining my summer. Although, I wasn't really planning on doing too much crazy summer activities this time considering last summer.

My eighth period health class had a party so the 45 minutes went by quickly. When the bell rang I grabbed my bag and walked to my car. I was lucky my eighth period was right by the student parking lot so I could get out early before all the traffic started. I turned out onto the road and headed to the mall where I worked at Olympia Sports.
