Things shouldn't have gone this way... Nothing was making any sense. At one point everything was perfect, it was-for once- nice and comfortable. I shouldn't have gone with them. I knew something was bound to go wrong.
It started with their screeching and then everything was red, the air filled the smell of things, people, burning. Running as fast as my legs would carry me, I didn't dare look back. All I processed was Pan's voice, the agonizing screams, and the realization that it was all my fault....
10 HOURS EARLIER
Pan led me to through a thinning path leading deep into the woods. I said nothing and he gave up trying to talk long before. I shouldn't be following this guy. I'm better off on my own, I WON'T get in my way. My conscience kept repeating itself, warning me about the possible dangers. Pan was too captivating for his own good, the way he spoke made you feel the need to do what he said. Why would someone like him be out as a street urchin when he could be living a cushiony life?

"Boys, this is Alex. She will be staying with us for the time being, treat her like one of us." Pan announced. They turned from Pan back to me, and then to Pan and back to me. I stepped back.
Pan put a firm hand to my back, slightly urging me forward. "Now love, none of us bite. You're safe here." he softly whispered into my ear, sending shivers done my back. Almost unaudible I spoke out a small hello, which received various nods and glares. Straighting up, I pushed my hair back, scanned for the tallest tree and climbed it.
In an air of silence, one of the boys got up and walked over to me. He seemed familiar some how but I couldn't put my finger to it....
