The boy placed his keys on the table and walked straight past me. As if I didn't exist ... Which was sort of true? I really didn't have a life. This wasn't new to me. "I'm Liam Turner. Your neighborhood rich kid." He said and I raised my brows "Oh." I simply replied not knowing what else to say. He grabbed something from the fridge then kicked the door shut with his foot.
"In this house ... We're going to have rules. You know, so we can keep this shit situated." he said then he stared at me for a good minute before laughing "Oh who am I kidding the only rules are don't talk to my lady friends that come here and don't flirt with the whole football team." He laughed before leaving the living room.
Who said I was going to be making friends in the first place? I rolled my eyes and turned on the TV again "Oh and by the way! I'm having a party tonight." He said disappeared from the corner. Perfect. Loud music and socializing, Just the thing I wanted to participate in. I logged into my Netflix account and resume watching Quantico. After a few episodes of the show, someone walked right in front of the damn TV and I sighed.
I guess people were popping up early.
I went into the kitchen and grabbed more bags of popcorn before running upstairs. After I closed the door to my room I realized that I never really asked the boy about the billing and the food system in the house. What was his name again? I think his name is Leo ... Geo ... Liam ... K- Liam. I'm pretty sure it was Liam. His last name sounded a bit familiar. 'Neighborhood rich kid.' His voice mimicked in the back of my head. I sighed knowing that somehow I was going to regret this in some way. I grabbed the laptop and hesitated before typing.
Who are the Turner's? A family picture showed up. In it was Liam, his father, and his mother. Next to the family picture was multiple buildings. After reading over the little summary I rolled my eyes. Just great. The richest family in the country, How nice. I went straight to Netlfix then looked at the light switch and smiled a little when the lights in my room turned off. I was about to resume watching Quantico when my door flew open.
Liam looked at my comfortable state and rubbed his eyes "So you coming down to the party or not?" He asked "No. I'm kind of tired." I said and he shrugged "Okay. I guess." he said looking around "Oh and how much is the monthly bill that we have to split and where are the other roommates," I asked. He gave me a weird look before laughing,
"What bills? They're automatically paid through my bank account. The only thing you have to worry about is your food and clothes and whatever you want to buy, We have no other roommates. Call it a small taste of luxury, " He said before closing his door. I locked the door and pressed play. All was going great until the music started blasting loudly downstairs. I sighed and got up then went to my crossover bag to get my beats. My phone vibrated on the bed and I rolled my eyes ... I am not going to get any type of peace today. I checked my phone and sighed.
Tina;
Sorry to bother you but can you come tomorrow? Genesis just quit and I don't have anyone to work the extra shift. Love you, dear.I groaned and rubbed my face. What was the point of finishing the first season now? I got work in the morning. I logged off of Netflix and went to apple music where I played music until I fell asleep.

I walked into work and wore a small smile as my boss approached me. "I'm so sorry dear. I know you just moved into your new apartment ... You must be really tired." She said and I shook my head "No it's fine Tina. I could use the extra money anyway. I think I have to supply the food in the place anyway." I said reassuring her that I was fine with the sudden hiccup.
She was like a mother to me and I did everything in my power to make her job easier. If even it meant coming in on my off day. "Oh God, you have a lazy roommate?" She asked "No ... I mean, I don't really know yet but there was a party and it kind of sucked for me." I said with a slight shrug. She shook her head "Hopefully it gets better." She said before greeting the guest that walked in.
I stood behind the register with the fake smile on and looked around the shop. I've been working here for a while and I have had many encounters with shoplifters, people that can't decide what they want, and the people that come in here that check everything out then end up buying the cheapest thing. Two girls came to the counter with a handful of things and set them down then went back to their phone.
Rule #1; Interact with the customers.
"Did you find everything okay?" I asked but they just ignored me. I cleared my throat as I scanned their items and asked them the question again with a tighter smile "Did you ... um ... find everything without any trouble?" But they still ignored me. I looked at their phones then had it turn off on its own. They groaned. "Oh my gosh, My phone just turned off on me." The one on the left groaned "Mine too." The one on the right said. "Did you guys find everything okay?" I asked again "Yeah Yeah whatever." They mumbled and I let their phone come back on.
Rule #2; Keep a smile on your face and remain perky
"Are you guys from around here?" I asked and the girl on the right stared at me "What is it to you?" She asked and I flinched "Um. Nothing." I said and quietly scanned the rest of their belongings and told them the total. They shoved their money in my face and turned around leaving the store.
Gosh, I love my job.
Another customer walked in but she was alone. She walked in with a huge smile on her face. She didn't look at anything in the store. She just walked straight to the counter. "Hi," she chirped with a perky smile. "Hi," I said trying my hardest to mirror her smile. I swear my face is going to split in half.
Rule #3; Help out customers as much as you can
"What's your name?" She asked me as she leaned against the counter and I send her a confused look before answering her "Um ... I'm Sophia." I answered carefully and she smiled "I'm Pearl. I feel like we are going to be good friends. Maybe best friends who knows." She said with a shrug. I laughed awkwardly. God knows that I had no friends for one reason. "Okay Pearl, can I help you with anything?" I asked,
"I would like to apply for a job, speak with your manager and get your number down because you seem like a nice person and I want to be your friend." She said leaning on the counter. "Tina," I said loudly and she shuffled towards the counter concerned. "Is there a problem?" Tina asked, Pearl shook her head. "No ma'am, I just want to apply for a job and make a new friend." She said with a huge smile.
Tina smiled and relief washed over her face as she spoke "So do you have all of your information on you and how early can you start? I'm sorry that this sounds super unprofessional but I just need someone to fill in this shift for a worker that left." She said and Pearl shrugged "I know everything by heart and I can start today. My schedule is empty." She said and Tina clapped her hands "Perfect." She said then grabbed Pearl's hand and took her to the back.
I shook my head and stared around the store. People lurked around and looked at things before either leaving or buying things. My feet started to hurt and I rolled my eyes in annoyance knowing that I couldn't levitate or even sit.
Ain't life great.
