I looked over at the blue hardcover book that was resting on my bed. My great grandmother knew this was going to happen? But how? I groaned and rolled over. The door flew open again. My dad stood in the doorway with a look on his face, He almost like he was challenging me. I sat up and sighed, Oh course he felt threatened. "I'm not trying to hurt you, dad," I said but he kind of relaxed and started to walk towards me slowly.

I sighed then closed and locked the door behind him. He stood up straight, He raised his brows and pointed behind him. "Did you-" I cut him off with a nod. He looked like he was fighting a smile as I spoke "Yes did. I closed the door." I said, "Why didn't you tell me?" He asked softly and I shrugged. He stared at me for a while before turning to the door and leaving.

I grabbed the blue book and opened it. A necklace fell into my lap. Not just any type of necklace. The necklace was a lightning bolt. I stared at it.

What kind of witchcraft was my great grandmother into? What the fuck is this? How does one even think of this?

I grabbed the necklace and put it on. My wrist just glowed a brighter. I put the book down then took a picture of the necklace on my neck so I could share it with Pearl and Liam. I put my phone down and started to read the book. The first sentence caught me off guard.

Dear beloved Great grandchild or maybe even further down the line, who the hell knows. You are the start of something magical. You have the ability. Many abilities actually that you will unlock as you get to know yourself. Please, Do not tell anyone that you aren't close with about this. Word will get around and there will be a war. A personalized war.

But I trust that you wouldn't do that. There is a necklace. It's supposed to match your birthmark. It should glow brightly when you put it on with one out of three colors. Blue, Green, or Yellow. The colors have a meaning behind it. I couldn't see that much into the future it's blurred so I can't tell you what color your body will pick. Be safe and choose your immediate circle wisely.

If not then you can read this scientific gone fiction book or burn it if you want to. Your choice.

Blue glow is All-knowing.
Green Is Mischief
Yellow is the ability to trap souls

Although with the blue glow you get both the green and yellow also.

Whatever color it glows will be the color you will have to live by for the rest of your life. I am still doing research on this ... Love you, dear, Martha.

I stared at the book.

Colors?

This necklace glows too? What did that mean? Now I'm even more confused and very curious. I looked down at my necklace which did not glow. Okay, so this does not glow. Should I just burn the book? It is kind of weird. Maybe my great grandmother was the crazy lady in the neighborhood that nobody paid any attention to. But then again ... I'm either an alien or some sort of human hybrid. Maybe it won't glow on the spot. Maybe I have to wait. Suddenly my phone started to ring.

Ken.

I smiled and picked up.

"Hey." I answered as I started to put my things away "Hey, I came by your house ...  You weren't there." He said

I forgot to tell him.

"I'm actually working on that project you mentioned to me earlier." I said "Oh really? How's that going?" He asked, I looked over at the closed door and let out a sigh "It's going great. For the most part." I said and he chuckled "Well. Since you aren't here... I could ask you now." He said, "Ask me what?" I asked confused "You to be my girlfriend." He said and I stared at my toes.

I never had a boyfriend before. How does that whole relationship thing work? Does that mean I have to have sex with him? He doesn't even know about my secret. I want to keep it between Liam Pearl and me but if I am his girlfriend... Doesn't that mean we can't keep secrets from each other? I have to say no.

"Sophia?" His voice rang bringing me back to reality. I blinked twice and shook my head, "Say what?" I asked, "I want you to be my girlfriend." He said and I sighed knowing that somehow ... One day I will regret saying what I just said. "Yes."

I feel so sick, "Sophia why are you pacing?" My dad asked and I froze "What?" I asked shocked. He said my name, The name he gave me. He actually said it. "What?" He asked confused "You said my name." I said and he shrugged "So." He said nonchalantly as if it wasn't a big deal. It IS a big deal, "You never say my name." I said and he rolled his eyes. "You're my daughter." He said and I nearly fell out.

"Ok. Where is my father and what the fuck did you do to him?" I asked and he chuckled before saying something that I never thought could escape his lips, An apology. "Look. I'm sorry. Your mother was very special to me. I loved her abilities and I was grieving her death. I just did it in the wrong way. You have something that your mom had and now I'm happy, It's like a reminder for me, I needed that." He said with a small smile, I just stared at him. "Did you hit your head somewhere dad?" I asked concerned and he rolled his eyes again.

"Sophia. I am serious. I treated you wrong and I understand if you do not forgive me." He said and I thought about it. I did not have a family. I knew he didn't hate me. Maybe some time away was what he needed. Why wouldn't I forgive him? "-phia. Earth to Sophia." My dad said and I blinked "huh?" I mumbled "Do you want to go out and eat? I can tell you about your mom." He said with a small hopeful smile.

I shot him a smile "Sure dad." I said and he walked to his room "Oh and dad." I said, He turned around "Yes?" He said, "I forgive you." I said and he just stood there. Shocked, Then a single tear fell from his eye and he sent me a small smile before going into his room.

A single tear means more than a river of tears

I thought and sighed. He's the only family that I have. I hope that this really does work.
