My eyes fluttered lightly together as I fell quickly. I knew nothing would happen to me. No idiot would kill off all their initiates before initiation started. It was simply a scare tactic. This didn't stop my body instincts though, because one minute I was floating graceful down through the air and the next I was clawing to find something to grab onto. My gut was tightening to the point that it hurts and despite the fall being nearly three second it felt like a lifetime. Like I was plummeting to my death through a bottomless void of darkness.

But then my back crashed with a metal net, knocking the air right out of me. I couldn't breathe. It was to much for my body already. I started to shake, it was mostly my body's reaction to just jumping off a fucking roof.

Several hand reach out to help you, each one wanting to grab on and pull you to safety. Before I could even catch my breath a pull myself up, because I wanted to show I didn't need their assistance, I was already rolling of the net. My face slammed into a soft chest that was covered in a soft cotton shirt. I blushed furiously, despite my complaints to my brain, as I met the eyes of the man who caught me.

He had a dark tan and his sharp features were adored with light brown freckles. I couldn't look away from his light hazel eyes, that drew me in like nicotine. I quickly try to snap myself out of it. I was being foolish, absurd, kooky. No boy is worth my time.

I noticed that his lips hadn't moved, he hadn't said a word. "My names June." I spoke up, as it was clear to see that the other initiates had shared their names.

The boy had coughed harshly, causing me to jump back in surprise. "huh?" He grunted with deep voice.

"Don't you need to know my name?" I asked, trying to take a kinder tone.

"Oh, uh yeah. What was that again?" He stared at me throughly, like he'd be able to tell by looking at my face.

My nose crinkled slightly as I laughed. "June."

"Well, June, welcome to Dauntless."

The man, whose name I was still yet to learn, guided me gently over towards the amity boy from earlier. He then turned harshly away and jogged back to the others. Probably to help another person down.

"So, you're name's June?" The small boy next to me squeaked out, frightening me nearly half to death. He looked at my with a small smile. I swear this boy's smile is contagious. I couldn't help but smile back.

I quickly tired to gain my composure, "Yeah, what's it to you?" I asked in a bitchy tone.

"Nothing," he smiled once again, and the little ray of sunshine continued to babble on. "It's a very pretty name, you know? Reminds me of summer." He giggled lightly as his own joke. "My names Quil." His small, dark skin hand reached out to shake mine.

"June." I repeated, shaking his hand gently. "But you already knew that didn't you." Quil giggled lightly bringing a smile to my face.

Only moments later our small greeting was interrupted by a shrieking whine. "You won't shake my hand, but his dirty, shit covered one is ok?" The red headed noob from earlier spoke up from behind us. And like that my constantly annoyed and disgusted look reappeared upon my face. "I'd be careful, kid. That bitch is fake. She's all nice and then next thing you know you're trash." Olivia barked out a warning to Quil.

I glared at her, hoping for her to disappear. "Maybe you're just trash?" I suggested in a emotionless tone.

Both Quil and Olivia froze up and looked at me appalled. "Um, maybe you shouldn't be so mean to Olivia?" Quil asked, with an awkward look upon his face. I huffed out and sulked like a child. I liked this kid, he was sweet, and I wasn't going to lose a possible accomplice because of bird brain, over there.

"Fine. But I'm not going to be nice." I said turning away from both of them as they conversed.

I stood silently next to them as people slowly leap down off the ledge and joined us. A lot of my fellow initiates were cowards, making it feel like a lifetime by the time they had the nerve to jump.

But soon enough, the last person landed in the net and we were separated into our groups. A punk girl, well actually dauntless girl I suppose, had herded away all the Dauntless born along with the nameless boy from earlier. I noticed his eyes searched my group for someone, coming up dry I guess when I notice him look down in disappointment.

After they all headed into the shadows, only 10 of us reamined. I snuck a glance at Quil. He was the only one who wasn't Candor or Erudite.  I followed his worried and frightened eyes to a short girl with blonde hair. She was clothed in a grey cotton dress. So Mr. Sunshine wasn't the odd one out after all. Not that he'd be alone anyways. I wouldn't say were friends, but he'd be a nice person to converse with every once in a while.

My attention was captured by a tall brute, with chocolate brown hair and a slight scruff on his cheeks. "Well ain't that a fine specimen." Olivia nudged me with her elbow, raising her eyebrows at stone face, who I could only assume to be our instructor.

"Quite boring in my opinion," I stated plainly. The red head looked over at me appalled, as if I had called her dead granny fat or something.

"Girl, you must have some high standards." She barked out with a laugh.  I was confused to why she was acting why we were friends. She still disgusted me.

Stone face addressed us with no emotion, obviously. Not even a slight irritation at the chattering Candors. "Most of the time I work in the control room, but for the next four weeks I am your instructor," he says. "My name is Four."

I could feel Olivia's hand squeezed my shoulder harshly, and if it wasn't for me noticing that she was trying to contain herself from laughing, I would have slapped her. But her control made me..quite proud surprisingly. What for I had no idea.

On the other hand, a tall dark skinned girl up front, did not have Olivia's will power. "Four? Like the number?" She barked out with a laugh.

Four calmly looked at her, no glare apparent on his face. 'I would've kicked her in the face', I thought bitterly. "Yes, is there a problem?" He said.

"No." The girl had replied quickly.

"Good. We're about to go to the pit, which you will someday learn to love. I-"

The girl snickered. "How original."

Olivia lost it at Four's silent rage and the girls rudeness. She doubled over laughing silently, while gripping onto my arm.

I rubbed my face in annoyance as I watched stone face scare the shot out of rude ass and redhead trash clutch onto me to help her stay steady.

'Dimwits.'
