Once the possums caught wind of us tossing Sid around, they gave each other a smirk and decided to join. Crash went on Manny's side while Eddie went to mine. Once they were on us, Eddie on my shoulder and Crash Manny's tusk, they helped us search for the hidden sloth who ran once he saw Ellie's brothers joined.
"GUYS, HE'S OVER THERE!" Crash shouted, pointing to the tree nearby.
"Manny, my dear?" I giggled, "Care to do the honors?" He gave me a wide smile and reached for the trunk. He gave a great big tug but it wasn't enough to pull it out. Seeing he needed help, Crash, Eddie, and I pushed our weights against it and helped him out. "On three, one...two... three!!" He pulled, I pushed at the base and the possums bit at the roots keeping it down. In no time- the tree was free. "TALLLYYYY-HOOOOO!"
"AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!"
"Ellie heads up!!"
THUMP THUmp thump.
"Twenty-six, beat that Jade!"
"Ohhh, believe me, I can! Eddie, you're helping me."
He saluted me, "Ai-ai Captain!"
"Crash, you're with me."
"Oooo this is going to be so much fun." He rubbed his hands mischievously on the mammoth's left tusk.
As we started the next hunt for Sid, Ellie asked Diego, who was cracking up a storm, what was going on.
"Oh the sloth started popping in the logs and now, Manny and Jade are having a competition about who can throw Sid the farthest after Manny tossed him a good few feet away."
A loud squeal came from her and her feet thumped on the ground quickly as she then came in our sight, "Can I help???" The look in her eyes and the grin on her face reminded me so much of my little sister whenever me, her, our big sister and... her... play games together.
I glanced at Manny to see he had a small dropped jaw with wide eyes when he shook his head slightly and gave her a smile in return, "Of course! We'd need the extra support."
I then turned to the saber on the sidelines, "Come on Dieg. About the entire group's joining this little game, why don't you do so too?"
He gave me a look, "I don't do games, Jade."
I rolled my eyes, "You're just scared that you're going to end up losing to a pair of mammoths and possums. Aren't sabers supposed to be fearless against their prey?"
His eyes widened and narrowed in a quick second before he growled lowly, "That's low and dirty."
"She's not wrong. I mean what's a saber without the tendency to fight against their prey?" Ellie joined in on the teasing.
"Can we even call him a remorseless assassin when he won't even help us chase down a sloth that can barely even keep a grudge?" Manny agreed, giving his partners, me and mine a look that made Diego's jaw drop so low, making me laugh as we looked at him,
"I cannot believe you joined in this, Manny.... Fine! I'll play along. But be warned," (He walked over to join my side, keeping his green eyes on the opposing team) "Jade, Eddie and I will wipe the floor with you!"
"Oooooooo I'm so scared." Our leader shook with fake fear, making Ellie chuckle with Crash doing a snicker.
"Come on!" I called, "That sloth will hide again and find better places to be if we don't find him!" And so the competition resumed with more help. The teams had assembled with Manny having Crash and Ellie; being called Team MEC while I had Diego and Eddie on my side; getting Team JED as our name.
