"I can't believe I actually agreed to this," Changbin says for the nth time that Saturday, watching Chan pace around the space that his backyard could permit. "Lawd, what did I sign up for?"
"You're the first member aside from me, so you're entitled to special treatment?" Chan says, but it sounds more like a question.
Changbin rolls his eyes so far back that Chan thinks that his eyes would get stuck. "Wow."
"Your enthusiasm is amazing," Chan answers, sarcasm rolling off his tongue. "Really brings up a man's spirit."
Changbin bows. "Thank you, kind sir."
Now, it's Chan's turn to roll his eyes. Changbin fixes the cap that's on his head and relaxes on the chair that he's seated on, waiting for Chan to say something. "So what do we do now, Mr. Make-A-Band?"
"We find more members," Chan states. He wonders how hard it would be, wonders if this idea is going to last. He really wants the idea to come to life and the thought itself makes excitement run through his veins.
"No shit, Sherlock," Changbin answers. Chan narrows his eyes at him. "I mean---no shit, Sherlock hyung."
"I wonder if Felix would like to join."
Changbin's eyes widen, and he shakes his head so fast that Chan thinks he's getting electrocuted. "No way! Nuh uh!"
"I won't tell him that you like him!" Chan argues, his voice loud. He realizes this and lowers his voice, knowing that this neighbourhood has pretty nosy neigbours. "Your secret is safe, Changbin. I won't tell."
"...Okay," his friend answers, then he mumbles, "I hope he doesn't agree."
"What was that?" Chan asks.
"Nothing."
A loud, ear-shattering electric guitar solo is heard a few houses down, and it's so sudden that Chan becomes startled and Changbin almost falls out of his seat.
A grin that resembles a Chesire cat's slowly appears on Chan's face, and Changbin feels scared of what the older male is thinking. "I think I found 'The One'."
Changbin furrows his eyebrows. "'The One' what?"
"That's it. 'The One'."
"Okay then."
"My dear Changbin, we are going to pay this person a visit."
"No way," Changbin answered, not eager to go to some stranger's house. "As exciting as that sounds, count me out of it."
Chan is about to argue with Changbin yet again, when his mother appears by the doorway, interrupting his speech.
Changbin straightens up at Chan's mother's presence and gives her a smile that can melt a mother's heart. Chan wants to barf.
"Hi, Changbin dear," his mother answers, a smile on her face when she sees the black haired male. "It's nice to see you here."
"You too, Mrs. Bang," Changbin answers like a goody-two-shoes, very different from his usual personality. Chan wants to barf. Again.
Chan's mother turns to face him. "One of our neighbour's kids came over to see you guys. He said he brought something."
A grinning Felix pops out from behind her and waves. "Hi guys!"
Changbin's smile immediately drops from his face.
Chan waves back. "Hey, Felix." He sees the nervous expression of Changbin. "Uh...what are you doing here?"
"I'll leave you guys to talk," Chan's mother says and walks away, leaving Felix in broad view.
Felix walks over (Chan swears he does a little dab as he does so), and presents something that is wrapped in foil paper. "My mom made cookies, and she said to share them with people that I know in this neighbourhood." He opens it, revealing heaven in the form of dough and chocolate chips. The smell is inviting, and Chan takes one and bites it, revelling in the taste.
"This is fantastic!" He compliments.
Felix grins, turning to Changbin. Changbin flinches a bit, freezing up as the Australian male hands him a cookie. Chan, amused, nudges his friend to take the snack.
Changbin slowly takes it, his and Felix's fingers brushing against each other's. Chan swears that the younger male's face turns a light shade of pink.
Felix seems to be oblivious as he turns back to Chan.
"Tell your mom that the cookies were great," Chan says. Felix nods.
"I'll keep that in mind," the Australian answers, his voice a bit lower than it usually is. Chan thinks that Felix has a voice that sounds like it belongs to someone twice his age. He turns back to Changbin. "What do you think about the cookies?"
Changbin has yet to say anything, and Chan just pats his friend's back and nods at Felix. "I'm sure he enjoyed it."
If Felix is bothered by Changbin's lack of words he doesn't show it. Instead, he smiles. "Okay. I have to go now. To my house. Over there." He seems to be struggling to find the right words to say, but the two guys facing him can understand him.
"Okay---wait." Felix pauses. "I'm...forming a band with Changbin here. We're looking for more members. Wanna join?"
Felix doesn't answer for a while, and Chan becomes worried that the male doesn't want to join them. Suddenly he exclaims, "Why not bro!", and they both grin at each other.
"Thanks Felix."
"No problem. I always wanted to be in a band. Or boygroup. Either one of them," Felix answers. Chan shakes his hand.
"You won't regret it, dude."
"Of course I won't!" Felix answers. "Gotta go now. Mom's like, super moody right now and a moody version of my mom is not something I'd like to see."
He leaves, waving at the two males, and Chan sighs, facing his friend.
"That was easier than I expected," he says, placing his hands on his hips.
"...I..." Changbin answers, his expression blank.
"Changbin, are you okay?"
"..."
"Uh, Changbin?"
"..."
"Oh my god. You are so in love with Felix."
"Shut up."
