Jericho's football career began with flag football at the age of five.

Even though it was flag, Jane struggled with the idea of him playing football.

Because of their jobs and their hyperactive son, Jane and Maura didn't have any more children and Maura wanted Jericho to make friends.

Jane, reluctantly, agreed, but was scared to let go.

She watched, from a squad car, practice. She continued to do so until his senior year of high school.

When he went to college, she would watch his games any way she could. When Georgia went to the National Championship last year, he sent tickets to everyone, including Camille and Korsak.

Now, he stood on the platform with other nominees, Baker Mayfield Junior and Nick Matthews, waiting to hear who won.

Maura took Jane's hand, "We raised him right. He knows what to do if he doesn't win and if he does."

"I know. We did." Jane said leaning on her wife's shoulder.

"And the Heisman goes to... Jericho Rizzoli, Georgia." The host said.

Jericho went and shook hands with the host. He was handed the trophy then went to speak.

"So, I wasn't planning on winning, so, sorry moms, I didn't write a speech." Jericho said earning laughs.

"So... I want to tell you a story about someone who is not here tonight. Barry Frost was a running back for his high school. He was gonna go to Boston College, but he blew out his knee. He became a cop and there he met my Ma and my Mom who are here tonight.

"My Pops couldn't be here tonight physically, but I know he is here in spirit. Thanks Pops for working some magic to get me where I am today. I love you. Thank you and good night."

He bowed to applause and went down to his moms. He didn't care that the cameras were watching.

He hugged Jane and Maura.

"I love you." Jane said.

"I know." He said.
