Ten years later: Boston

Maura was terrified for her life.

It was Friday night and she knew she was in for it.

It's been ten years since Jericho had gone missing. The state of Massachusetts and Georgia had declared him dead. He'd be about thirty today.

About two years ago, Jane had gone from casual drinking, ten years ago, to an abusive alcoholic. Every Friday night for the last two years, Jane had come home fully drunk and would beat Maura.

Maura had tried to leave, but during those horrendous nights, Jane threatened to have Maura's license.

Maura's breathing picked up as she heard the door unlocked.

"Where's my bitch!?!" Jane called out.

Maura went down stairs, "I'm here."

"Aren't you looking nice?" Jane staggered to her wife.

Jane put her hand on Maura's face. Maura nearly sighed. Could this be the day where Jane would quit beating her?

The sting that made itself known on her face  said otherwise.

"You bitch! You let him go!" Jane began yelling.

Maura had enough of it. Jane chased Maura into the kitchen.

Maura saw a frying pan on the counter. She took it and swung at Jane.

Jane fell back and was knocked out.

Maura checked for bleeding. There was none.

Maura kissed Jane's forehead then left the house.

She had an escape plan, she would go to Frankie's house and would stay until Jane got help...and she hoped Jane would soon.
