Hey everyone! thanx so much for reading this book! I know it's not great, but if you're enjoying it, remember to leave a like!
"Hey Juvia" I looked up, startled to see Gray rubbing the back of his neck.
"Uh, yeah Gray sama?" I answered, hoping he didn't hear the emotion in my voice.
"Would... would you like to go on a walk with me?" he said quietly and I squinted my eyes. Was he blushing?
"Like... on a date?" I thought for a moment before I remembered the decision I made about forgetting Gray.
"No... it's ok Gray sama. I wouldn't want to cause you trouble." I said, going back to playing with my cup.
"No,no,no it wont be any trouble at all Juvia! please?" he said quickly, resting his hand on my shoulder. The ice mages's touch was warm and soft and I felt bubbles of joy in my stomach.
"Okay... only because Gray sama insisted." I said, slowly getting up.
Gray gave a soft smile and wrapped his arm around my shoulder. I tensed up. Why is Gray sama suddenly being so friendly towards me? I decided to think about it later and enjoy his sudden change of heart towards me.
Gray POV
As we were walking out of the guild, I glanced at Erza, who nodded encouragingly. I smiled a bit and glanced down at Juvia. She had the brightest smile that I've seen on her in a long time on her face. I have to admit, she looked cute with her face lighting up like that. As we stepped outside, Juvia looked up an caught me staring at her.
Feeling my cheeks heat up, I looked away and coughed."So, Juvia... I- I was thinking to take you to the festival in town." I suggested, determine to look anywhere but at her.
"Juvia," she started as she threw her arms around my neck, "thinks that is a wonderful idea!" she exclaimed giggling.
I grinned and grabbed Juvia's hand. "Let's go!" I said and ran towards the festival, dragging a squealing Juvia with me.
Eventually, we made it to the entrance. Juvia hugged me quickly and grabbed my arm. "Are you ready, Gray sama?" she asked, laughing as we ran into the festival.
We had loads of fun. We played games, watched acts, and ate food. Finally, when it was midnight, I took her to the main attraction of the festival; the firework display.
Juvia POV
After dinner, Gray took me to a forest behind a stadium. He didn't tell me what was happening, just that it was a surprise and we had the best seats. While we waited, I tried to read Gray's hands to tell his fortune, like how I learnt from the magazines to pass the time.
I held Gray's hand close to my face and traced each line with my finger.
"Juvia," he whined. "That tickles!" he said as his hand squirmed.I widened my eyes.
"Does Gray sama wish for Juvia to stop?" I said fearfully."No! keep going... tell me how long I'll live." He said, leaning onto the tree behind us.
"According to this line here, since it runs from way up there to way over here, Juvia thinks it means that Gray sama is going to have a nice long life with 3 kids." I said smugly.
Gray laughed and grasped my hand. I squealed as he traced the lines on mine. "Hey, Juvia? Doesn't that mean you'll have a short life?" he said worriedly, pointing to my life line.
"That's what it's supposed to mean, but Juvia thinks this is all silly. Gray sama shouldn't believe this foolishness," I told him, waving away the topic.
His muscles relaxed and I realized he was still holding my hand. Suddenly a bright light exploded in the sky.
"Look Juvia! the fireworks are starting!" he exclaimed as a deafening noise came from the fireworks. My hands flew to my ears to protect them from the sounds. I've never seen fireworks before, and they were scaring me.
Gray noticed and let go if my hand. Before I could feel any disappointment, he put his arm around me and brought me closer to him, wrapping me in a warm embrace.
We watched the fireworks for the rest of the night, and for once, I felt truly safe. But I didn't realize that the feeling wasn't going to last for long.
