The Volturi's Kitten

Chapter 1

I was sitting in the car as Alice drove to Bella's house. Alice said she couldn't see Bella's future, so naturally we assumed she was dead or dying. Alice wanted to go by herself, but I was able to get her to bring me along. Parking in front of Bella's house, we saw that all the lights were off and that no one was home. Alice turned to me and said, "I am going inside, but I want you to wait in the car."

"Can I at least walk around? My legs and butt are numb."

"I guess, but don't stray to far."

"Okay." We get out of the car, and Alice walks into the house while I head towards the forest. After sitting in the car for hours, I was glad to stretch out and walk around. I was debating if I should shift when I heard Bella's truck pull up. I walked back towards the front of her house to see her arguing with a guy. A really hot looking guy might I add. He looked over at me, Bella followed his line of sight to see me. 

"Bella, you're alive," I said hugging her. 

"Um yeah. I am alive. What are you doing here Julie? I thought you were with the Cullen's," she replied hugging me back. I catch the guy staring at me with curiosity in his eyes. 

"Alice would be better at explaining that to you, then I can."

"Alice. Where is she?"

"Inside." She lets go of me and walks up to her front door. The guy stops her saying, "I can't protect you in there." Bella looks back at him and says, "Alice won't hurt me," then walks inside.

He grunts and stands there on alert for anything that might happen. I decide that I don't want to deal with him and go to the car to grab the snacks I have. Opening the back seat, I go through my bag to find some lays. I close the door and lay on the ground eating my chips. I breath in the air and focus on the nature around me. 

A moment later, Alice, Bella, and that guy are coming out of the house in a panic. Alice runs to the driver seat and starts the car. I get in the back seat while Bella is fighting with the guy about Edward. I don't care what they are saying, but I ask Alice what is going on. She tells me about her vision of Edward going to the Volturi and wanting to die. That idiot! I want to strangle him. How selfish can he be? Having himself killed without saying anything. With Bella in the car, we race to the airport. 

Next thing I know we are up in the air on our way to Volterra. I decide to take a nap since this will be a long flight and let Alice figure things out.

I waken to someone shaking me. I open my eyes to see Alice in front of me. 

"We are landing," she tells me. I stretch the best I can and wait to get off the plane. We go through the airport with ease, and Alice stole a car. I sit in the back listening to Alice and Bella talk about Edward and the Volturi. Every time I heard the word Volturi, it made my heart ache, and I don't know why. Maybe I will find some answers while we are here. 

We get to Volterra just to be stopped by a festival that they are having today of all days. Bella gets out the car to try and get to Edward before he exposes himself to the humans. Alice drives around until she finds somewhere to park. We run together through the crowd and get to the clock tower. 

Alice opens the door for us and walks in saying, "Come on guys. It's a festival. Wouldn't want to make a scene." I follow her in and the big guy says, "We wouldn't." A girl walks around a corner and says, "Enough." Edward whispers, "Jane." 

"Aro sent me to see what was taking so long." She turns and walks away with us following. I realize that they are the royal guard that Carlise has told me about.

"Just do what she says," Alice says. We get to an elevator and all get in. Bella stands with Edward while I stand close to Alice. She looks down at me with a smile on her face then turns away. I wonder what that was for. We walk down a hall with Bella asking about the human receptionist. Jane opens up a set of double doors which leads to big room with a dome ceiling. Guards are standing around. 

"Sister. We send you out to bring one and you bring back two - and a half - and a half? Such a clever girl," a guy says. There are three chairs set up like thrones, but I can't see who sits on them because I am still behind Alice. 

"What a happy surprise." I hear a man say and the voice almost makes me melt right there. It must be my mate. That's why Alice was smiling at me. She knew. "Bella is alive after all. Isn't that wonderful." I hear him walking up to Edward. "I love a happy ending," he continues. I peek out from behind Alice and look at the man. He is wearing a dark suit and has long dark hair past his shoulders. He grabs Edward's hand and rubs it. I realize that it must have something to do with his gift. 

He starts talking about Bella and her blood which makes me jealous. Edwards tells us about Aro's gift, and I see Aro look at me. I freeze looking into his red eyes. The word mate is being chanted in my head over and over again. I am still awe struck when they are talking about Bella's gift.

I feel like a piece of me has been found, but there is still something missing. I am drawn over to the other two men seated on the platform. I look in to the red eyes of a blonde man who sits on the left. I also hear the mate when I am looking at him. I look over to the man seated on the right and also find out that he is my mate. 

I have three mates that are vampires. Not just any vampires. No, they are the rulers of the vampire world. 

When I come back into reality, Jane is using her power on Edward. 

"Stop," Bella says, "no please stop. Stop. Just stop hurting him. Please. Please." 

Aro says, "Jane," and responds with "master."

After a minute, he says, "go ahead my dear," and Jane says, "this may hurt just a little." Jane tries her power on Bella, but it doesn't work. I hear Aro's laugh, and it makes me want to laugh with him. He questions himself when it is obvious that he knows what he is going to do to her.

"You already know what you are going to do, Aro," a somewhat lazy voice says, and it leads to my other mate that is on the right with long brown hair, Marcus I believe.

"She knows to much. She is a liability," my other mates states, Caius I believe.

"That's true. Felix,"Aro commands.

"No," Edward says and attacks Felix. They start fighting while Demetri holds Alice and I make my way over to my mates. Aro walks up the few steps to stand in front of his throne and has me stand next to it. Felix gets Edward in a kneeling position in front of Aro, and Bella starts freaking out. 

"Kill me. Kill me. Not him," Bella says making Aro walk towards her. Aro starts talking about Bells again, and it makes me jealous. Caius reaches over and takes my hand. I feel a tingling sensation at the touch of his skin. His thumb rubs my knuckles which distracts me from the discussion on Bella's mortality. I look around and see that everyone is focused on Aro. Marcus is looking straight at me like he is trying to see if I am real.

I look back at the scene before us and hear Aro say, "go now. Make your preparations."

"Let us be done with this," Marcus says standing up, "Heidi will be here any moment now. Thank you for your visit. "

"You will return the favor. I advise that you follow through on your promise soon for we do not offer second chances," Caius chimes in. They start leaving as Aro says, "goodbye, my young friends." I wave them goodbye and see that Alice and Edward look back for a moment, then they leave.

Aro turns to look at me and smiles. "Julie, our beloved mate. We can talk in a moment, but if you don't want to see us feed then I suggest that you leave. We will come find you when we are done." I let go of Caius' hand and say, "I will do just that. Don't make me wait too long."

"Of course, my dear." I walk out of the grand room just as the "tour" group gets there.
