The events that have happened over the last few months have indeed taken a toll on me. I woke the morning after I left Erik devastated, but there was still a wedding to take place in six week's time.

The wedding is taking place tomorrow.

I feel like something is unfinished. I can't explain it, but the feeling I there.

Rising from my seat at the little inn I've been staying at, I feel my muscles constrict at the idea of moving. With all of the wedding preparations arranged, I find myself with nothing to do but think of Erik.

"Christine? Darling, where are you?" Raoul's calls from the door of the suite.

"I'm here, Raoul. On the terrace." I say.

Looking over the horizon, I hear my betrothed step onto the balcony. He places a soft kiss in my hair and I run and smile.

I do love him, I think to myself, but not as I love my dear phantom.

"Are you all set, my dear?"

"Hmm?" My mind leaves now and goes back two months to the notes that he sings to try to win my love...

"Let the dream begin! Let your darker side give in! To the power of the music that I write...the power of the music of the night!"

"The dinner?" Raoul seems confused, as he should be.

"You alone can make my song take flight..."

"Christine?"

"Help me make the music of ...the...night."

"Christine!"

"Huh? Oh, Raoul, I'm sorry. My mind is just in a bit of a fog. I didn't mean to worry you."

Raoul sighed, "No worries, my love, I can surely understand."

With another kiss on my forehead he turns and I am left alone. I cannot get his music, his molten voice, out of my mind.

I suddenly realize the only thing I can do...

I rise and make for the door. Grabbing my cloak, I run down the stairs and out the door without looking back.

I find a horseman in the stables.

"Sir? Passage to Le Opera Populairé?" I ask, trying and failing to hide my desperation.

"Yes, Madame." He replies as I hand him a few coins.

I step into the carriage as he readies it for the trip into Paris.

My heart thumps wildly in my chest as I think of what awaits me.
