Alcoholic

I drink to forget

To numb my feelings

To shut off my brain

Then maybe then

I'll stop constantly thinking of you

I smoke to have control

To contaminate my lungs myself

Instead of letting the air you breath

The air we breath

Do it against my will

I cut to feel control

To give myself an actual choice

I can control my pain

When life brings me harm

Without my consent

I think too much

My thoughts are taking a toll

On my mental and physical health

I need distractions

Ones like you

You keep my mind in check

Because how can I think of leaving this world
