~Sam's POV~
Hey y'all! My name is Samantha, but most people call me Sammie or Sam. My family and I just moved here to Leesburg Georgia from Macon Georgia today. Yes, my brother and I are 18 and 20 and still live with our parents, but hey, we run our parents farm and so it's just easier if we're here. I know y'all are thinkin' (why didn't y'all go to college?) Well, to answer your question, I am enrolled in the local community college, and as for my brother, he went to a trade school and is actually a welder. So, there you have it, a tiny glimpse into my glamorous life.
~Luke's POV~
I was out paintin' the front porch of my family's old farmhouse for my mama. Now, yes I am 20 and still live with my parents, but in the South living with your folks til you get married is pretty normal. Plus, we just lost my older brother so I wasn't so sure it was the best time to leave my parents. Anyways, I was paintin' the porch when I heard my mama callin' my name from inside. I wiped my hands on my old levi's and walked into the house.
"Thomas Luther get in here!" I sighed, when someone calls me that, I know it can't be good. I poked my head into the kitchen.
"What's goin' on mama?"
"There you are! Are you deaf today son? I've been callin' your name for pretty near ten minutes." I chuckled and walked fully into the kitchen.
"Sorry mama, just thinkin'." My mama smiled and shook her head.
"So, whatcha need mama?" She looked at me and smiled.
"Well, your dad just called me and told me that we have some new neighbours that are taking over the old Miller farm and they're looking for a ranch hand. Since you know the farm so well and you were looking for a job your dad told them that you would be more than happy to do it. So I need you to take this pie and go on over there and welcome them to Leesburg and introduce yourself. Plus I hear they have a son and daughter around your age." She winked at me at the mention of them having a daughter. I rolled my eyes.
"Mama, you know I'm not lookin' for someone right now." She sighed.
"I know Luke, but what would having some good friends hurt?"
"Okay. Fine. I'll go." My mama smiled and hugged me.
"Good. Have fun. I love you!" I chuckled.
"Love you too mama." I grabbed the blueberry pie off the counter and headed out to my gray 1987 Chevy. I turned up the radio and played Save A Horse Ride A Cowboy by Big&Rich. It was a short two minute ride down the dirt road to the farm, so the song was almost over as I was pulling in the driveway. I noticed there were three trucks parked in the driveway, must be the mother likes trucks too. I jumped out of my truck and walked up onto the porch that rounded around the entire front of the house. I knocked on the screen door and waited. Finally a woman with short brown hair came to the door with a smile.
"Hi sweetheart, what can I do for you?" I smiled back and handed her the pie.
"Howdy ma'am. My name is Luke. I think my father told your husband that I was coming over to talk to him about a job here on the farm. And this is a blueberry pie that my mama made for y'all." She smiled wider.
"Oh yes. Mr. Bryan right?" I nodded.
"Yes ma'am." She chuckled.
"Honey you are too sweet, but please call me Pam." I nodded.
"Well Luke, my husband is in the barn out back with the horses, so you go right ahead out there okay?" I nodded.
"Thank you very much ma'- I mean Pam." She smiled and took the pie back inside. I was walking out back and towards the barn when I heard a truck coming up the road. I turned around and saw a lifted black Ford F250 covered in mud speeding up the road. Looks like that guy found the mud hole that's about a half mile down the road. I heard Rock My World- Little Country Girl by Brooks&Dunn coming from the truck and I smiled. I finally made it to the barn and I walked in since the barn door was open. I saw a man feeding the horses so I walked up to him.
