*Four Years Later*

A shiver runs up Ella's spine as she looks over her shoulder on the way home from the grocery store up the street.

"What's with you all of the sudden?" Her girlfriend, Aubrey, asks when she notices Ella is acting weird out of the blue. She knows that Ella can get anxious randomly and wants to calm her down as quickly as possible.

"N-nothing. I just thought we were being followed." Ella explains her sudden weird behavior.

"You're hot, of course people would be following you around!" Her girlfriend jokes. Seeing that her humor did not take Ella's mind off of the thought, she tries another tactic to calm her. "I'm sure you are just overreacting. We all get that weird feeling every once and a while. No one is actually following us. Plus, I'm right here. No one would even touch you."

She nods. "You are probably right." Although her girlfriend has assured her no one is following them, Ella still has this weird and uncomfortable feeling in her stomach. Her gut says she is being followed. Her gut is always right but as of this moment, she has no proof to back this feeling up.

"Can you stay for the night?" Ella asks Aubrey as they finally reach the front doorstep of Ella's house.

Aubrey bites her bottom lip. "I don't know, maybe." She smiles and leans in for a quick kiss.

The two of them go inside the house. Aubrey shuts the door behind them and follows Ella into the kitchen. Ella sets the groceries down on the cold countertop. She and Aubrey begin unloading them and preparing them for their homemade dinner: spaghetti and meatballs.

Ella plays music on her phone and the two of them dance in the middle of the kitchen as they prepare their meal. It is their own personal dance party, just the two of them.

They sit down at the table and begin enjoying their meal together, casually making jokes and enjoying their alone time together. They rarely get a night alone from Ella's family.

"Please sleep over tonight. My parents won't be home until Monday!" Ella begs her girlfriend.

This bit of information is enough to convince Aubrey to stay the night. "Okay fine. I'll stay the night. You are lucky you are so darn cute or else I would have said no." She grabs Ella's hand and kisses the top of it.

The girls clean up their dishes and make their way upstairs to Ella's bedroom. They sit on Ella's bed and talk for a while before kissing. The simple kiss turns into a more heated and passionate session between the two of them.

The moment would continue to escalate would it not be for Ella hearing something downstairs. She stops kissing Aubrey to listen closer to the noise. "Did you hear that?" Ella asks.

Both of the girls sit in silence as they listen for the mysterious noise that spooked Ella.

"I don't hear anything." Aubrey admits and grabs the back of Ella's head to pull her back in to their moment. Ella places her hands on Aubrey's shoulders and pushes her away slowly but aggressively, Ella's eyes fixated on the doorway. "Hey, what gives?" Aubrey asks, angry that Ella is being so weird right now. The two of them were in the zone. They were having a good time. Aubrey is put off that Ella is too focused on the noise she thinks she heard somewhere outside the bedroom.

"Shh!" Ella quiets her girlfriend. "Listen." She points to the door. Aubrey nods and listens, wondering what it is that Ella thinks she hears. She just wants to tell Ella that she is making the sound up and that it is not real. But she can't do that unless she hears it for herself.

Aubrey stands and walks closer to the doorway, hoping that getting closer might make her able to hear better. "El, I really don't hear anything. What am I listening for?" Aubrey asks, placing her hands on her hips.

Ella shakes her head as if to get rid of a thought. "I thought I heard the front door open." Ella pulls her knees up to her chest on the bed. Her heart is racing faster than it ever has.

She hates being home when her parents aren't here with her. She always feels safer when they are around. With them gone for the weekend, Ella only has Aubrey to talk her down and relax her.

AN: thoughts? Do you think Ella is just overreacting or did the door really open?

This is my first time writing a girlxgirl relationship. I hope it's good! Can you tell that Ella and Aubrey are a couple or do I need to do a better job at showing that?
