Chapter 5
I'm still at the hospital. They've run so many test, that I can't even count. Some of my friends have visited me, like Hailee and Lillian. They brought me some gifts, like toys and flowers. Today, I'm alone because my family had to go to a reunion thing. I was told I could finally get out of my bed and walk around.
I haven't felt a cool, granite floor in a long time. I jump down the dark halls in the night. My bare feet pitter and patter against the freezing floor.
I hear a whisper.
I stop jumping. The whispers are kind of creepy, but calming. Then, the lights start again. The multi-color confetti and ribbons fill the whole entire hall, swirling around me. Golden and platinum dust looks like stardust. I reach for it, and it tickles. I can't hold in my excitement. I run around laughing, letting the blue ribbon wrap around me. I felt like a little kid again, bubbly and goofy.
Then, all of the colors and shimmer reverses, and it forms a boy. The boy... The one that was startled. I stare at him, and his smile is spread across his face. He has a shiny glow, and he's floating.
I step closer to him. He stands still. I step closer, keeping an eye on him. He still looks blankly at me. Inches away, I lightly poke his face. I jolt back, ready for impact, but he stares. I raise an eyebrow. I poke him twice, and stare into his yellow, glowing eyes. He just looks ahead at me, grinning.
"Hello, human." He says. I jump, falling on my butt, eyes wide open.
"You... You're... Real?" I stutter.
"I'm indeed, to you. My name is Mer." He says, bowing.
"W-What... Uh, I'm Melanie..." I mutter.
"I know," he says. "I've known your name ever since the accident."
"How... How do you know me, Whatever-you-name-is?" I start to feel flustered.
"You are connected to us now."
"Who's... Us?" Instead of anger, I feel fear.
"We are the Invisilites. We occupy the planet Noonapass, which is exactly 9,345,001 miles away from this, 'Earth'."
"I'm... I'm... Seeing things." I start to feel insane.
"No, no, Miss Graspe. You, are not insane, my lady. When you got in the accident, a support beam of the beverage house hit something in your brain, causing you to see us. No other human can see us, but you can, Melanie.
I pause. He's right. I touched him, I felt him, I could hear his breaths, I could hear his heart beat. This boy, is alive.
And I'm not crazy.
"Why are you here, Mer?" I ask.
"I'm here to retrieve you illegally." He says, as seriously as possible.
"Taking me illegally? Why?" I yell.
"Melanie, we need you... To save us."
