On the day that the Evil Ones came, Sandra and Sophia had been sitting in the meadow with the rainbow lake. They had been talking when the sickening crack in the sky had stopped all life. When they had come to the lake, the dragon had stared at Sandra as the man tried to steal the color from the lake. The trees closed around them. They were trapped. Sandra levitated Sophia onto her back and flew over the vines and branches. They were able to make it out before the lake had been sealed from the outside world. Sandra landed in the forest as the rest of the unicorns were going to the man. They followed them. As the man spoke, the dragon kept his eyes on Sandra.
Sandra watched as the rain fell on the others and they slowly started getting sadder. Sandra, however, was reminded of her bad memories, but pushed them to the back of her mind. When the Evil Ones flew away, Sandra ran in front. She yelled to the others,
"Go to the trees! The rain is causing your sadness! Go to the coverage of the trees so that you may feel happy!"
The unicorns looked at her blankly, then obeyed. They walked slowly to the trees. Sandra brought the fouls as the others crawled toward the trees.
"Come on! Let's play tag!"
The fouls ran with a trail of giggles following them as Sandra chased them into the forest. The others sped up just a sliver when they saw the happy fouls. Sandra went to the back and herded the group until, finally, they were all hidden from the rain by the leaves.
To stay happy in the sad times, the societies took down their homes and put them all in one place. Sandra was able to cheer people up when she was with them, so the elders had her go around to everyone throughout the day so that they could try to stay happy in Magical Happy Rainbow Land. But, outside their little city, the land wasn't magical, or happy, or full of rainbows. It had become Dull, Sad, Colorless Land.
IT had been a few months since the Evil Ones came. The unicorns were starting to get used to this way of life. They were starting to accept Sandra as one of them. They were able to stay happy a little longer than before, so Sandra was allowed to have time to herself.
Sophia and Sandra were walking in the rain. Sophia had a cover made of leaves to keep the sadness away, but Sandra didn't need one. She was able to stay happy even in the strongest downpour. They were talking and laughing when they saw something in the sky. They looked up to the the dragon named Sandomire. He flew down towards them. They ran towards the forest. Sandra looked into the sky and saw that he had his eyes on her. She looked back to Sophia. She whispered "I'm sorry" before extending her wing and pushing Sophia into the woods. She turned and took off towards the dragon.
He was black as a starless and moonless night. His eyes were piles of blood-red rubies. His dagger-sharp fangs were pearls. He was twice the size of Sandra. She took a shaky breath and said as bravely as she could "What do you want?"
He smiled evilly. "Why, you, my dear."
His claws moved like lightning. He grabbed her neck and turned back to the castle. Sandra struggled against him, but his grip was firm. She could hear Sophia screaming as Sandomire took her to the castle where his brother was. Sandra was taken to the tallest tower. Sandomire threw her through the window and waved his claw. A purple fire grew in the window then disappeared. Sandra ran to the window. She hit a wall of purple. Sandomire grinned, but his eyes were cold. He whispered that no unicorn or alicorn could get through. Sandra tried to hide her fear with anger. "What do you want?"
Sandomire laughed. "Your love."
Sandra looked at him with confusion. He studied her face. "You're confused, I can tell. Remember what my brother said? I need a girl to say that she loved me for me to change back to a human. I have chosen you to be the girl that loves me."
Sandra laughed. "I will never love you."
Sandomire looked surprised by this. "Why?"
"Well, let's see. You took the color from my land, you trapped the lake that gives so much to our lives, you made stormclouds that make the unicorns miserable, and then you kidnapped me. Why would I even want to love you?"
Sandomire's smile disappeared. It was replaced with a look of pure anger.
"You will love me. I will do whatever it takes."
Sophia stood by the castle walls, listening to what Sandomire said. She glared at him. "And I will do whatever it takes to get her back."
